Lebanon sentences another 25 people for collaborating with “Israel”

“ Beirut's military court sentenced 25 more Lebanese for collaborating with the “Israeli” enemy, judicial sources said Thursday.

Two were sentenced in absentia to jail, one for a month and a half and the other for six months for "entering enemy territory," the source said.

The remainder received prison sentences ranging between two weeks and seven years for collaboration with “Israel”, for entering "enemy territory" or for killing resitsance fighters.

The trials against those accused of collaborating with “Israel” started 10 days after the May 24, 2000 pullout of “Israeli” troops from south Lebanon. Since then, Beirut's military court has tried 2.595 suspected collaborators.

So far, 30 have been sentenced to death, all of them in absentia.
