Lebanon jails 29 over collaboration with Israel
A
military court on Saturday sentenced 29 people to prison terms ranging from one
month to three years after they were found guilty of collaborating with
Israel during its 22-year occupation of southern Lebanon.
Four defendants received three-year sentences for collaboration with the
Israeli-backed South Lebanon Army, while 25 convicted of varying degrees
of collaboration.
Lebanon is technically at war with Israel, and it bans any dealings or
contact with the Jewish state.
Charges against two other defendants were dropped, the court said in a judgment
posted on its bulletin board.
