Collaborators men jailed for collaboration
A military
court has convicted 12 people, most of them former members of the Israeli-
allied South Lebanon Army, of collaboration and contact with Israel and
sentenced all but one to up to 15 years in prison.
The harshest sentences were handed down to Qassem Ismail Olayyan and Elias
Ibrahim Haddad, in absentia.
According to the verdicts issued late Wednesday and posted on a court bulletin
board Thursday, Abbas Hassan Hajj was sentenced to two years in prison and fined
LL400,000. Seven others received prison terms ranging from six months to one
year and were fined LL400,000 each for serving with the now-defunct SLA.
The court dropped collaboration charges against three people.
