Suspect
collaborator car explodes at Houla
A
booby-trapped car exploded in the southern village of Houla at dawn on
Monday, the second such incident in two weeks.
There were no casualties in the explosion.
The car, which was totally destroyed by the blast, was owned by school teacher
Yasser Awad, 45, and had been parked in front of his home.
Police officials said that an investigation had been started to identify the
reasons behind the incident.
On March 26, an explosive charge placed in a pick-up truck in Houla blew up,
again without inflicting casualties.
A letter had then been found at the site, threatening the owner of the vehicle
and all collaborators and traitors that they should leave the village
immediately, or the response will be very harsh and the gates of Hell will be
opened on you.
The letter was signed Strike Force 513 on behalf of former detainees and
victims of the Israeli occupation.
Mondays bombing was the latest in a series of attacks against suspected
collaborators with Israel during its occupation of the South.
Last week, a house in the village of Hebbarieh belonging to a former
Israeli-proxy South Lebanon Army militiaman, was fire-bombed. Two weeks
earlier, another house in Hebbarieh was similarly gutted.
Residents of Shiite and Sunni villages in the former occupation zone have
expressed deep unhappiness and anger at the sentences handed down to the
collaborators, arguing that the judiciary has been too lenient.
