September Wednesday 29-1999:

Introduction
The state of confusion and hysteria that hit the "Israeli" enemy and its collaborators was because of the magnitude of the blow which it received as a result of Islamic Resistance (IR) men's heroic confrontation with the occupation in the vicinity of Beit Yahoun and Rihan outposts.

Meanwhile, Hizbullah stressed that what happened yesterday proves that the "Israeli" enemy has reached its peak of defeat and helplessness, for it is unable to protect its outpost, senior agents, or tanks that were sitting ducks for IR's missiles.

However, "Israel" has acknowledged, for the first time ever, that it had trained interrogators in the notorious Khiam prison run by its proxy militia, according to a court document cited by Reuters news agency on Tuesday.

Clashes between IR men and occupation troops "at meters' range"; magnitude of losses drives enemy hysteric…(1)
"Sources of the Islamic Resistance (IR) said the state of confusion and hysteria that has hit the enemy is due to the magnitude of the blow which it received as a result of IR men's heroic confrontations with the occupation in the vicinity of the Beit Yahoun and Rihan outposts.

"The confrontations were characterized by a high degree of professionalism and precision. Parts of the clashes took place at meters' range, thus enabling IR men to score accurate and direct hits, the sources said.

"IR was able to inflict painful losses in the ranks of the enemy and its collaborators, on top of which was killing agent Fawzi al-Saghir and his assistant Jihad Qassem along with wounding six others, burning four M-163 half-tracks on the Sojod outpost road and destroying artillery emplacements in the Zaffateh outpost, two tanks in the Rihan outpost and an Armored Personnel "Carrier (APC) in the Haddatha outpost, the sources noted, adding that four of the wounded collaborators are in serious condition.

"They (the collaborators) are Toni Hanna, Fadi Asaad Qassem, George Aoun, and an unidentified collaborator from Hasbayya. An "Israeli" soldier was also wounded during IR's operation yesterday".

Qaouq: "Israel" is incapable to protect its agents…(2)
"Hizbullah’s southern commander, Sheikh Nabil Qaouq, said the resistance showed "Israel" and its collaborators that it was always present.

"Speaking in Aadsheit, at the funeral of Khreibani, Qaouq said that the recent attacks showed that the "Israelis" had reached the peak of their defeat and that a collapse of their defenses was imminent. Qaouq also said the "Israelis" were incapable of protecting their compounds and agents.

“The US diplomatic shuttles will reap nothing but defeats and disappointments because the Islamic resistance is determined to impose the withdrawal-defeat on the enemy. We will not settle for a withdrawal that would be less than a defeat,” he said adding that “the resistance is determined to deal the ultimate blows to the occupier.

“These agents have to stop being agents before the resistance will finish off their lives. Despite all the protection measures "Israel" provides for Fawzi Saghir and others, the Islamic resistance was capable of killing him after he had been an agent for 20 years.”

“Hizbullah fighters were not satisfied with blowing up the agent’s (Saghir’s) car, they stood above his head and finished him off from a distance of less than a meter away,” Qaouq said.

The funeral procession began at the Hammoud Hospital in Sidon and headed toward Adsheit where Khreibani was laid to rest.
"The fighter’s body was carried by his comrades, who chanted anti-"Israeli" slogans as they led the procession".

"ISRAEL" ADMITS INVOLVEMENT IN NOTORIOUS KHYAM DETENTION CAMP…(3)
"For the first time ever, "Israel" has acknowledged that its security services interrogate, instruct and cooperate with "Israeli" allied militia interrogators in the Khiam detention camp. In an unprecedented admission, published by the daily Jerusalem Post today (yesterday), "Israel" also said its army pays the salaries of interrogators at Khiam in occupied southern Lebanon".

" At least 140 Lebanese are detained behind these walls in the infamous Khiam detention center in occupied southern Lebanon. Amnesty International and a growing number of local and international human rights groups say torture and maltreatment are systematic here at the hands of "Israeli" occupation forces and their allied militia. Lebanese are held in the center without trial or charge, in clear breach of international law and UN human rights conventions, to which "Israel" is a signatory. The latest arrival to Khiam was Cosette Ibrahim, a young journalist who was kidnapped on September 2 from the occupied village of Rmeish. Reporteurs Sans Frontiers, the Paris-based journalists defense group, said Cosette had reportedly undergone torture and physical and mental abuse at Khiam. Friends and family of Cosette regularly hold protests in Beirut to highlight her plight and the suffering of Lebanese detained by "Israel". Some are suspected of aiding the Lebanese resistance fighting to oust "Israel" from southern Lebanon. A protest was held by an "Israeli" civil rights group yesterday on behalf of Cosette. "Israel" had previously denied any involvement in the notorious Khiam practices, blaming its allied militia for maltreatment. But "Israel's" Jerusalem Post today (yesterday) unveiled that the head of "Israel's" army operations, Dan Halutz, admitted in an affidavit which he submitted to the High Court of Justice last week in response to a petition on behalf of four Khiam prisoners by two "Israeli" civil rights groups, that "Israel" is involved in Khiam. Activists asked the court to allow them to visit Khiam or to release the prisoners immediately. The ministry of defense first claimed it did not run Khiam and was quote not in control of occupied southern Lebanon. Human rights groups did not accept that response and pushed for more explanation. Last week, "Israel" reportedly provided details never before acknowledged, of links between its security services, "Israeli" forces in Lebanon, and the Khiam detention center. "Israeli" army generals said their relationship is based on intelligence sharing and interrogations meant to foil resistance attacks in the south. The head of "Israel's" army operations stressed, "Israel" guides and instructs its allied militiamen, but claimed security agents do not participate in face to face interrogation of Lebanese detainees. That contradicts numerous accounts by freed detainees who say "Israeli" security agents are present throughout their interrogation periods. The senior army officer also contradicted earlier "Israeli" reports that "Israel" did not pay the salaries of jailers at Khiam, saying salaries to "Israeli" allied militiamen in Khiam are directly funded by the "Israeli" army. A major European campaign to gain the release of Lebanese detainees held by "Israel" was launched today (yesterday). The follow-up committee for the release of Lebanese detainees announced that journalists, academics, and lawyers in France, Belgium, and Switzerland, are appealing to President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Lionel Jospin to mediate with "Israeli" Prime Minister Ehud Barak to free Lebanese held in Khiam".

Lahoud: unity of people, resistance and army with Syria imposed defeat on the enemy…(4)
"President Gen Emile Lahoud said, "The position today is a source of pride due to the unity of stand between the people, the army and the Resistance with Assad's Syria."

"Thanks to this unity, the "Israeli" have found out that they are unable to defeat us. They are now racing to get out of our land, the president said.

"The stage is delicate, but not difficult, he added, stressing that "Peace will only be as we want it: just and comprehensive.

Moreover, it has to be accompanied by the building the state of law and institutions. Everyone will see that the state's concern will be to enable each citizen to get his right".

"Israeli" Aggressions…(5)
The "Israeli" occupying troops staged the following aggressions:
9:05, the "Israeli" fighter-bombers dropped four air-to-surface rockets into Daidaba area.
9:20, the "Israeli" helicopter gunships fired eight air-to-ground rockets and heavy machine gun bullets at Daidaba area.
9:45, the "Israeli" war jets staged a sortie into Daidaba firing two air-to-ground missiles.
15:10, an "Israeli" warship fired one missile at Naameh area.
17:20, two 120mm shells hit Mount Sojod.
Between 18:45 and 19:00, Mlikh village was targeted by four 120mm shells, two 81mm rounds and a volley of 12.7mm heavy machine gun bullets.
20:50, one 155mm missile hit Qaissieh Valley.
21:10, three 155mm missiles struck the peripheries of Loweizeh village.
22:00, Yohmor village and the surroundings of Salaah position exposed to 12.7mm heavy machine gun fire.

Greenpeace: "Israel" continues to dump deadly chemicals in Mediterranean…(6)
“That’s PVC waste (polyvinylchloride, a toxic byproduct of plastic manufacturing) from a plastic factory near Haifa that dumps all of its toxic waste into the sea,” said Zeina Hajj, the Lebanon campaigner for Greenpeace. “The Greenpeace activists in "Israel" couldn’t even approach those waters at first because they were so poisonous,” she said. “They had to wear thick suits to protect themselves.”

Hajj said that despite its attempts to mislead the international community regarding such practices, "Israel" continues to dump deadly chemicals in the Mediterranean.

"Last March, "Israel" guaranteed the United Nations that it would refrain from dumping any substance other than salt into the sea. However, Greenpeace Mediterranean recently took samples from an "Israeli" dump ship’s load and found significant levels of toxic chemicals and heavy metals.

""Israel" dumps its toxic wastes 40 kilometers off the coast of "Israel" in international waters but according to Greenpeace, currents carry the

poisonous waste to Lebanon and Cyprus.

"According to Hajj, the remaining "Israeli" footage in the documentary focused on the sewage-laden Kishon River which runs through Haifa.

“Added to all the "Israeli" dumping is this river of pure sewage that empties into the Mediterranean Sea,” she said.

"Two weeks ago, Greenpeace sent a letter protesting the continued dumping to the Sea and Coast Department under "Israel's" Ministry of Environment.

"The "Israeli" government responded by challenging Greenpeace’s findings and promising to take its own samples and present its results within 10 days. But the "Israelis" never did.

"Tuesday’s press conference and video screening was an attempt to educate "Israel's" neighbors and protest "Israeli" non-compliance. “This video shows the truth about pollution in the Mediterranean and identifies the main polluters. We wanted to present the true facts,” Hajj said.
