September Thursday 9-1999:
Introduction
Two "Israeli" agents were injured near Rihan
in the northern sector of the occupied zone when a roadside bomb, planted
by the Islamic Resistance (IR) men, exploded beside their armored patrol.
Meanwhile, the "Israeli" collaborators refused, for the seventh day following the successful IR operation, to serve at Zimraya crossing point because it is unsecured against the IR infiltration.
However, a Lebanese University graduate from the School of journalism was detained by the "Israeli" occupying troops on Tuesday during a sweep of Rmeish village in the Western Sector of the zone.

The IR mujahedeen scored a new achievement against
the enemy's highly armored Merkava tanks when they detonated, at 5:00,
an explosive device as a Merkava tank was traveling on the road linking
between Rihan town and Ain El-Kabira area destroying it completely. Later
on, the enemy dragged the destroyed tank with a bulldozer and another tank.
At 15:40, an "Israeli" bulldozer began shoveling away the road between Rihan and Khazen area passing by the scene.
Moreover, the IR militants set off, at 6:45, a roadside bomb as a common "Israeli"-Lahdi patrol was searching the same road inflicting a number of casualties.
In the occupied Palestine, the "Israeli" Radio reported that two "Israeli"-allied militiamen were seriously injured in this explosion.

Lahds militia men refuse to serve on the
crossing points
(3)
"The Zimraya crossing point is still closed since
seven days now following the successful Islamic Resistance (IR) operation.
The reason for its shut down is the refusal of the Lahd militiamen to serve
on that particular crossing point because of it being unsecured, saying
that the (IR) infiltrates into the post killing everyone in it.
"Reports from the occupied territory stated that an "Israeli" helicopter landed on the Ain Qinya post dropping "Israeli" troops who reinforced themselves in it after it was deserted by Lahds militiamen".
Journalism graduate thrown into Khiam after
"Israeli" sweep
(4)
"A Lebanese University graduate from the School
of Journalism was detained by the occupation forces on Tuesday during a
sweep of the village of Rmeish in the western sector of the zone.
Cosette Elias Ibrahim was detained along with Samir George Khiam and Divol Butros bu Taleb. They were taken to Khiam prison.
"Ibrahims brother, Khalil, held a meeting with Melhem Karam, the president of the Journalists Association, to inform him about the detentions.
Karam strongly condemned the arrests, saying that it was not the first time that "Israel" has carried out such inhuman and uncivilized actions.
"He informed the Union of Arab Journalists, the International Journalists Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, Amnesty International and Journalistes Sans Frontieres about the arrests.
"The Follow-Up Committee for the Support of Lebanese Detainees in "Israeli" Prisons condemned the detention of Ibrahim and called on the government and humanitarian organizations to take swift action to secure her release.
"The committee invited members of the public to take part in a sit-in to be held next week to protest Ibrahims detention".
Media aims to avoid events with "Israelis"
(5)
"The National Audiovisual Media Council chaired
a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of television and radio stations
that broadcast news to discuss means to avoid events attended or sponsored
by "Israeli" officials.
"The meeting was attended by representatives of the TV stations Tele-Liban, LBCI, MTV, FTV, Manar, NBN and New TV, and radio stations Voice of Lebanon, Voice of the People, Radio Orient, Sawt al-Ghad and Voice of Free Lebanon.
"Council president Nasser Qandil said afterwards: We reached full agreement regarding the caution shown by these media outlets in their eschewing traps set by "Israel".
"Israeli" policy, he continued, consisted of attempting to cast doubts on the countrys rejection of any form of contact with the enemy.
"Last month, the council stirred a controversy when it recommended closing LBCI for three days after its correspondent in Amman covered an event attended by "Israeli" Foreign Minister David Levy held on the Jewish states border with Jordan.
"But after the station did not air the report and promised to take disciplinary action against the correspondent whom it said acted without orders the Cabinet rejected the recommendation and instead warned stations against breaking the boycott".
