Nasrallah warns of pressure for security pledges
He tells hundreds of new fighters: We shall
continue resisting the occupation

Hizbullah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
warned on Thursday that Lebanon could expect to face strong international
pressure to offer security guarantees to Israel before a troop withdrawal
from the south was carried out.
In a speech marking Martyrs Day at which 1,200 new fighters swore allegiance to the resistance, Nasrallah declared if more blood is required, let them take our sons. We shall continue resisting.
The Hizbullah leader argued that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak was conducting a two-pronged policy on south Lebanon, one military and the other political.
On the military front, he fills the world with noise about peace while filling the south and the Beqaa with the noises of warplanes and air raids, he said. Barak has also taken new precautions to reduce losses by withdrawing his troops to fortresses equipped with the most sophisticated technology. He has been extending all types of support for the Lahd militia and then leaving them on the ground alone.
He mocked the seemingly contradictory statements from the Israelis regarding their intentions over a withdrawal.
Israeli Chief of Staff Shaul Mofaz says one day no to a unilateral withdrawal, then the next day he says he is preparing a policy for a unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon.
Im not going to sit and analyze whether the Israelis will withdraw unilaterally or not. This is a trap designed to keep the Lebanese off balance.
That the Israelis withdraw from our territory without condition is what all the Lebanese are calling for and no one in Lebanon is going to stand up and say we reject an Israeli unconditional withdrawal.
Nasrallah acknowledged that the Israelis would withdraw at some stage.
But here is the trap: what in reality is being offered is a conditional unilateral withdrawal that is to protect Israel and guard its border.
There are those who come to Lebanon and say the Israelis want to leave, how about a multinational force in the south? added Nasrallah, They believe that UNIFIL should be buttressed and the Internal Security Forces sent there. This is what the American ambassador pro-
poses in his capacity as a self-styled high commissioner.
Nasrallah warned against proposals for the five-nation Monitoring Group to be given the authority of overseeing security along the border, which in effect is a security arrangement.
Its only natural that the Lebanese and the resistance should worry and watch very carefully where we are going so that we dont step on this land mine, he said. Whats totally unacceptable is that anyone should Lebanon to accept any formula, mechanism or force that will be placed here to protect Israel and not the Lebanese.
Nasrallah lambasted the movable feast of peace negotiations when Israel has already set its conditions: Jerusalem is not negotiable, settlements will remain, refugees will not return, and finally, adding fuel to the fire, is Baraks decision that (UN Resolution) 242 will not apply to the West Bank and Gaza.
Martyr's Day, 17 years after blowing up
Israeli military governor's HQ in Tyre

Hizbullah and the Lebanese mark Martyr's Day
on November eleventh, the day on which, 17 years ago, a young man, Ahmed
Qassir, carried out the martyrdom operation that killed over 150 Israeli
officers and soldiers including the Israeli military governor and other
senior officers.
In 1982, Qassir, who hailed from the town of Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, drove a Pegout car full of explosives and bombs after he hugged two of his comrades whose mission was to watch the details of the operation.
Moments later, a horrible explosion blew up the headquarters of the Israeli military governor at the Azmi Building (in Tyre) which was chosen by the Israeli command as a center along with a camp built near the building.
The date for the operation was set on November 10, 1982, but unexpected circumstances emerged and postponed the operation till the next day.
It was seven o'clock; the rainy weather forced the occupation troops and the Israeli intelligence men to take cover in the building. On the previous day, the sky was clear and the troops were deployed in the near camp. This raised the number of the troops killed. The delay also led to the addition of an Israeli intelligence official, who spent the night in the building, to those killed by the explosion. Moreover, a number of the Lebanese and Palestinian detainees were moved, on November 10, to another building.
The 8-story building included offices directly belonging to the Israeli intelligence. One of the floors was headquarters for the Assistance Unit of the Israeli command in the area. The fourth floor was a place were a number of Israeli officers and sergeants slept when they were assigned to perform certain intelligence or liaison missions.
Ahmed Qassir, the pioneer of martyrdom operations, stormed the building's square; moment later a huge explosion was heard and the building crumbled. There was a hellish fire and smoke billowed within horrible moments that witnessed the Israeli troops crying while sporadic shooting was heard.
The site turned into an arena full of torn bodies that were inspected by Israeli generals and commanders, including the northern area commander Gen. Amir Drouri, arriving by cars and helicopters.
As for the losses, the Israeli spokesman then acknowledged that 74 Israeli officers and soldiers, including the military governor, were killed; 27 others were considered missing. Israeli newspapers days later said 141 were killed, and ten were missing.
As the Israeli cabinet announced a state of morning, the Israelis were puzzled in explaining the operation, saying that the reason was a building defect and ruling out the bombed car possibility; Israeli officers', including chief of staff Rafael Elan, later said that bombs were planted at the building's shafts and this led to the collapse of the building.
The name of Ahmed Qassir remained unknown along with the side that carried out the operation until May 19, 1985 when the Islamic Resistance marked the anniversary of the Deir Qanoun al-Nahr's martyrs and unveiled the hero of the first martyrdom operation.
The announcement was made by Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah who was not Hizbullah secretary General then.
His Eminence announced that the original plan included another martyrdom operation that was to rock another Israeli command HQ in Sidon. Field circumstances emerged and canceled the second operation.
Israeli military intelligence calls for
immediate pullout
(3)
Israeli military intelligence is reportedly
urging Ehud Barak to order an immediate withdrawal from Lebanon, according
to the London-based Foreign Report weekly.
The report comes in marked contrast to the organizations long held belief that a unilateral withdrawal is not to be recommended.
Foreign Report said that Brigadier General Amos Malka, the head of military intelligence, has not changed his mind, instead arguing that now a political decision to withdraw has been taken, it should be conducted as soon as possible. Such a move would end the risk of further troop casualties and strip Syrian President Hafez Assad of a bargaining chip in future talks on the Golan Heights, Foreign Report said.
The respected weekly quoted a source close to Barak as saying that the Israeli premier will withdraw soon from Lebanon and expose the fox from Damascus naked.
The source added that the July date for a withdrawal could be brought forward to April, adding: sooner than that is not realistic. Besides, time is needed so that a withdrawal does not look like running away.
Foreign Report was recently cited along with the Paris-based Al-Watan al-Arabi as having been duped by Israels psychological warfare unit into running false stories.
Recent comments by Barak in which he has hinted at a readiness to stage a unilateral withdrawal if necessary are seen as attempts to pressure Assad into returning to the negotiating table. A seasoned political observer noted that the story should be judged in this light.
This report could be seen as yet another attempt to put more pressure on Syria to return to negotiations, the source said.
Furthermore, the article was published two days after Israeli Chief of Staff General Shaul Mofaz told the Knesset foreign affairs and defense committee that a unilateral withdrawal was more dangerous than a pullout backed by an agreement with Damascus.
Our evaluation that a unilateral withdrawal is more dangerous has not changed, he said.
ISRAEL DRAFTS LEBANON PULLOUT PLANS
(4)
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's pledge
to withdraw his forces from Lebanon by next July has been put in motion.
Israels army is reportedly drafting a number of pullout plans and scenarios.
Top Israeli army officials met for the first time over the weekend to review strategies for a possible troop withdrawal from occupied southern Lebanon. The meeting, chaired by chief of staff Shaul Mofaz debated plans for both a unilateral pullout and a withdrawal within the framework of peace agreements with Lebanon and Syria. Sources quoted in Israel said Prime Minister Ehud Barak prefers the pullout to be part of an agreement, but added a withdrawal would go ahead anyway in the absence of such a deal. But the Israeli military has for long opposed a unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon. Israels so-called northern command has proposed installing equipment on the internationally-recognized border that would make the area inaccessible. The families of some 2,000 Israeli allied militiamen in the south will reportedly be relocated to Israel in the event occupation forces withdraw from here. Barak's advisor Danny Yatom has warned Lebanon of a quote hot winter ahead, reiterating Barak's pledge to withdraw from the south with or without a peace agreement with Beirut and Damascus. Former army chief and now minister, Amnon Shahak, who once said occupation forces will remain in Lebanon for another thousand years if no security arrangements are reached, stressed if cross-border clashes ensue the withdrawal, Israel will strike Lebanon. But Hizbullahs deputy secretary-general Sheikh Nahim Qassem, whose group is the main resistance force battling Israeli occupation in Lebanon, brushed aside Barak's promises to withdraw from the country, saying the Israeli premier initially made the pledge hoping a peace agreement would be forged. Sheikh Qassem also stressed no one will stop a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from the south. Effective resistance attacks and mounting Israeli casualties in the south have created an outcry in Israel for ending 21-years of occupation in Lebanon. Thirteen Israeli soldiers have been killed in resistance operations in the south since the beginning of 1999.
Hizbullah and ICRC for more interest in
prisoners and detainees
(5)
Hizbullah's official in the south Sheikh Nabil
Qawooq thanked the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) for
the efforts it is making to ease the suffering of the people detained by
the Israeli occupation forces.
After he hosted ICRC's representative in Lebanon Henri Fournier and his assistant Riad Dbouq, his Eminence Sheikh Qawooq said the occupation is forcing our people in the occupied villages to pay the tax of the Israeli field bankruptcy as the enemy is practicing its terrorism, detention and suppression against the people.
The suffering will not be eased with anything other than a bitter defeat and a humiliating pullout by the occupation. This is what the Resistance is determined to achieve, he said, adding that the "enemy's brutality and suppressive practices burden the international groups with more duty and responsibility to have their messages put into effect in the interest of our steadfast people in the south and the western Beqaa.
In turn, Fournier said Sheikh Qawooq urged him to take more interest in the civilians detained by the occupation forces, adding that ICRC promised more possible efforts in this regard, and that it is following up the detainees' problems and issues, especially the health problems.
4 citizens expelled by occupation forces

The talk about resumption of settlement talks
and withdrawal from Hasbaya were not of any good to a Lebanese woman and
here three children who were expelled from the occupied zone.
The house of Iqbal Assad Khameis and her children Rifat, one month, Ashraf, five years, and Safi, eight years, was stormed by the proxy militia who were accompanied by an Israeli intelligence officer.
The woman who was preparing her children for school was taken by force to the Zimraya crossing. They told her never to return to the occupied zone.
When Khameis was asked about the reason, she said, "The reason is the occupation . They expelled my husband Hani Abu Dehen ten days ago and now it was my turn and that of my family."
Although the family would not talk about the direct reasons, relatives said Hani refused to join the militia and told the militiamen "you will withdraw sooner or later, so why force people to join you?"
On the other hand, 20 citizens visited 12 of their hostage sons held in al-Khiam detention center.
The visited prisoners are:
Issam Awada, Hassan Abbass, Ezat Yassin, Hussein
Hijazi, Nemer Nemer, Hassan Moussa Rida, Zeyad Ghinwi, Wajih Hijazi, Mostafa
Ali Arabieh, Mohammed Ali Srour, Youssef Srour and Fadel Tohini.
