Introduction
Hizbullah Secretary General H.E. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah received a
delegation of Jezzine notables, headed by Pierre Serhal, Philip Al-Khoury
and George Naameh. Sayyed Nasrallah reassured them that residents of Jezzine
have nothing to fear following a pullout of the "Israeli" allied militiamen.
In the meantime, "Israel's" proxy militia began to withdraw from Jezzine area under the Islamic Resistance (IR) attacks. At least two collaborators were killed in the attacks as the militia pulled out from all but the town of Jezzine and four nearby villages.
Elsewhere, the Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk Sharaa, who held talks in Beirut, was quoted as saying the retreat made by the "Israeli" agents from Jezzine will not affect the resistance's struggle to end the "Israeli" occupation of South Lebanon.
Jezzine delegation hosted by Hizbullah: Jezzine public backs Resistance
(1)
"Hizbullah Secretary General his Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah today
(yesterday) received a delegation of Jezzine notables, headed by Pierre
Serhal, Philip al-Khouri and George Naameh. The meeting was also attended
by Hizbullah Political Council Member Sheikh Mohammed Kawtharani.
"During the meeting Sayyed Nasrallah underlined Hizbullah's guarding
the well-being of the Jezzine residents, "that (the Resistance) has offered
precious bloods to rescue from occupation and to recover to the homeland
and freedom."
"Regarding the collaborators, the national interest and the security
in Jezzine requires that they be handed over to Lebanese judiciary, as
some may be linked to the collaborating militia's security and Zionist
intelligence services, his Eminence said.
"For their part, the delegation members commended the straightforward positions released by the Secretary General in the press conference he held two days ago. They stressed the Resistance's major role in the liberation process, along with the people's steadfastness during the years under occupation.
"The relations of the Jezzinites with the Resistance is old and good, Serhal said, adding that liberating Jezzine is a step on the road to liberate all the occupied zone.
Serhal said no one must claim to represent the people of Jezzine in the media or in other spheres.
"There is no reason for fear, especially as other areas had been liberated and no problems occurred, Serhal added.
"For his part, Attorney George Naameh stressed that the people of Jezzine and East of Sidon are united in backing Hizbullah and the Resistance.
Visiting Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is to refute what some have been saying or spreading through the media, Naameh said.
"The hands of the Jezzinites and the Resistance are united to defeat the occupation and forces ""Israel"" to completely withdraw from the occupied zone, he added.
"The Jezzine public opinion backs the Resistance, the voices that are heard here or there are fueled by private interests and electioneering, he concluded.
"The Hizbullah Secretary General later received the head of the Mashmoushe Monastery Abbot Boulous Khawand who reviewed with Sayyed Nasrallah the situation in Jezzine and conveyed to him the joyful sentiments of the enclave's residents for returning to the homeland, thanking the Secretary General for his sincere positions.
"Following the meeting Khawand denied that he had opened the monastery for Lahd collaborators.
We do not intend to protect the Lahd militiamen from the state. They must be tried by the Judiciary, Khawand said.
Two militiamen killed, one wounded and two "Israeli" soldiers
injured in IR attacks
(2)
"Following their failure to continue imposing the will of the "Israeli"
occupation in Jezzine and realizing their incompetence to confront the
Islamic Resistance's (IR) drive to beat the aggression and liberate the
land, the collaborators Thursday gathered what was left of their equipment
and vehicles and evacuated the city of Jezzine".
"As one of the collaborators' convoys of armored vehicles carrying militiaman was retreating from Jezzine at 1:30 a.m., IR's squad of Martyrs Hassan Shamas and Mohammed al-Habhab detonated a powerful bomb against the convoy, completely destroying an M-113 armored personnel carrier and a T-55 tank. The vehicles were being transferred by a tank carrier which was also destroyed in addition to killing and injuring those in the convoy.
Collaborators panicked and got confused, calling on ambulances to evacuate their casualties.
"The convoy's pullout was delayed until 4:45 a.m. when the destroyed vehicles were removed and the rest of the convoy continued the pullout.
Once again, 300 meters away from Kfar Houna, IR's squad of Martyrs Samir Milhem and Ibrahim al-Hajj detonated a second powerful bomb that targeted the rear of the same convoy, completely destroying a fourth vehicle and killing all the militiamen in it.
"The rest of the convoy's personnel started running away from the scene as IR's Mujahedeen pursued them and their vehicles with machine-gun fire and guided missiles till 8:00 a.m.
"Meanwhile, IR's squad of Martyrs Hussein Trabulsi and Ahmed Rida at
7:00 a.m. ambushed another convoy in the same area.
The Mujahedeen used machine guns and rocket propelled grenades in the
ambush, scoring direct hits that burned two vehicles.
"At 9:00, IR's squad of Martyrs Ali Ammar and Ahmed al-Trabulsi detonated a roadside bomb against the car of a collaborator stationed at the Blatt-Jezzine crossing, immediately killing him.
"The "Israeli" radio acknowledged the death of two collaborators and the injury of a third, while the militia's radio admitted that one collaborating officer was killed and another was wounded by IR bomb attacks, in addition to the death of a security service militiamen in a third roadside bomb.
"Moreover, IR's squad of Martyrs Mohammed Ajroush and Mohammed Ballouk at 9:30 targeted a Lahdi collaborating force at Kassaret Haddad on the road to Kfar Houna, scoring definite hits in the force's ranks.
"At 10:30, IR's squad of Martyr Faraj Ballouk pounded the "Israeli" artillery emplacement in Ein Toughra with the appropriate weapons, scoring definite hits.
Furthermore, IR's squad of Martyr Hassan Saalouk at 13:45 attacked a group of collaborators in the Addous field with the adequate arms, scoring direct hits.
At 15:20, IR's squad of Martyrs Ali Milhem and Hussein Nasser detonated a roadside bomb against a collaborating foot patrol at the Ein Majdaleen intersection, killing and injuring all of the patrol's members.
At the same time, the IR team of martyrs Fadl Eid and Naameh Hossaiki attacked the artillery emplacement of Abou Qamha with the adequate arms striking several artillery cannons.
"In a warning reprisal for the enemy's continuous violations of the April Understanding and bombardment of residential neighborhoods in several safe villages in the south, IR's squad of Martyrs Ahmed Rida and Hussein Hayek at 16:00 pounded the occupation's border outpost in al-Abbad with the adequate mortars, scoring definite and direct hits.
"In the meantime, IR's squad of Martyr Hussein Trabulsi staged a similar attack against the occupation's border outpost in Ramia, scoring direct hits.
"For its part, Agence France press affirmed the injury of two "Israeli" troops in IR's attacks against the border outposts of al-Abbad and Ramia.
"On the other hand, IR's renewed its warning to the collaborators that they should turn themselves in and return to be embraced by the nation before it is too late".
Sharaa: Militia withdrawal due to Resistance blows
(3)
"On an official visit to Baabda timed to coincide with Jezzines return
to fold, Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa reassured the enclaves
residents Tuesday that their nightmare of 14 years was finally coming
to an end and that fears of resistance reprisals were uncalled for".
He said he felt deeply reassured about the future of Jezzines residents after the withdrawal of the SLA* militiamen, which began in earnest Tuesday.
The population of Jezzine has been living a nightmare. Im satisfied with what President Lahoud and Prime Minister Hoss told me about the situation in Jezzine, he said, adding that this did not imply any change in the support of the Syrian and Lebanese governments support for the resistance.
At Nijmeh, al-Sharaa said that the developments in Jezzine reflected the extent of collapse in the ranks of the SLA and that Syria supported any measure taken by the government with regard to Jezzine.
Syria is satisfied that the suffering of Jezzines residents is about to end, he said. If theres any source of danger for them it would be only Israel.
Blood-soaked SLA slinks from Jezzine
(4)
"Having completed the pullback from the area west of Jezzine, the South
Lebanon Army militia paused for breath Tuesday before beginning the second
and final stage of its blood-soaked retreat as Hizbullah fighters continued
to harass the retreating militiamen.
"The mauling the militia received at the hands of Hizbullah in the past 36 hours raised expectations that the SLA would run the gauntlet of the bomb-strewn road between Jezzine and the new front line south of Kfar Houna Tuesday night.
"While the remaining militiamen congregated in the center of Jezzine to nervously await the order for the final retreat, the residents of villages to the west of the town woke Tuesday morning to experience freedom for the first time since 1982.
"The much-anticipated pullout from the mountain enclave began in earnest Monday night when several T-55 tanks rumbled down Jezzines deserted main street accompanied by armored personnel carriers.
The Dahr al-Ramleh road between Jezzine and Roum was lined with SLA militiamen as a pilotless reconnaissance plane buzzed in the night sky above.
Most of the heavily armed militiamen in the tanks and armored personnel carriers had been drafted from further south to help protect the pullback.
"The atmosphere nervous and tense, a militiaman manning a heavy machine gun on a tank fired a deafening 15-second burst above the heads of reporters in a bid to prevent them from filming the vehicles".
"Another tank below the town fired several rounds into Tallet Baton, north of Jezzine, the orange bubbles of fire from the exploding rounds briefly pinpricking the darkness.
"Shortly after midnight, around five tanks, tank transporters and armored personnel carriers trundled out of Jezzine toward Kfar Houna. An hour later, the southern skyline was lit by the flashes of explosions followed by distant thunderclaps.
"Hizbullah fighters, waiting in the hills for the SLA retreat to begin, had detonated a series of roadside bombs against the armored convoy. One militiaman was killed and another wounded in the blasts, which also damaged a tank transporter, an APC and a tank.
"In a statement, Hizbullah said the attack put the agents in a state of confusion and terror, trapping them for over three hours before they could move. A second bomb was detonated just north of Kfar Houna, destroying an APC.
""Israeli" warplanes dropped a couple of bombs on the slopes of Toumat Niha early Tuesday morning, heralding what was to be a day of further violence and bloodshed.
"Having completed the pullback from the west of Jezzine during the night, the SLA established a checkpoint beneath the statue of the Virgin Mary on the outskirts of the town.
Bored militiamen sat in the shade beside the main street with a tank, an artillery cannon and two trucks laden with household goods parked opposite.
"The bloody events of the night before along the road between Jezzine and Kfar Houna had apparently delayed the final pullout as the route was inspected for further explosive charges.
"One militiaman, dressed in an olive green "Israeli" uniform, said he
had been forced to join the SLA only four months ago.
I keep asking them if I can leave, but they wont let me, he said
quietly so his comrades could not overhear.
"Asked why he did not simply defect, the 25-year-old said he feared
being caught by the militia before he could escape.
If they catch me they would put me in the boot of the car and drive
me to Khiam, he said.
"A grim reminder of his possible fate came moments later when a massive explosion rocked Jezzine. Hizbullah fighters had detonated a roadside bomb beside a car just 400 meters away, below the SLAs headquarters in the town.
"A member of the SLA, the target of the attack, was killed in the blast which hurled his car off the road and onto the roof of a house below.
"As reporters and militiamen scurried for cover, the staccato drumbeat of heavy machine gun fire and the sound of exploding shells erupted from above the town as Hizbullah guerrillas attacked the SLAs Ain Thoghra artillery post.
"Several mortar rounds exploded on the outskirts of the town, sparking brush fires.
"Israeli" warplanes returned to bomb Jibaa in the afternoon, while artillery pounded the areas facing the northern sector, wounding a Lebanese soldier and two Syrian laborers.
Three civilians wounded in "Israeli" aggressions
(5)
""Israeli" occupation forces escorted their militia's retreat from
Jezzine with a series of aggressions that wounded three civilians and inflicted
a lot of damage in several areas.
"As the occupation's militiamen retreated from the enclave, enemy warplanes hovered intensively in southern skies, staging several raids that targeted the Rohban Hilltops (near the Radar outpost and Kroum al-Arz to the east of Jezzine).
""Israeli" raids that targeted the town of Jibaa at around 14:00 Tuesday injured three Syrian workers who had to undergo surgery in Sidon hospitals.
"Occupation's aggression in Jibaa also severely damaged a 4-story building owned by Amin Ghamloush, besides a 3-story building belonging to Abbas Hussein Aqeel, the house of Mohammed Hassan Ghamloush, and a house belonging to the Khraibati family.

"Enemy warplanes also staged a raid on the Bayada area (between Mashghara and Ain al-Tineh) while the two towns' outskirts were hit by enemy artillery.
""Israeli" shells, moreover, hit the outskirts of Qilya and damaged a number of houses.
Another earlier raid targeted in the morning the Toumat Niha outpost which had been evacuated by the enemy, while heavy artillery shells targeted the Ain El-Tineh Hilltops.
"Furthermore, enemy warplanes swooped low over Beirut and Nabatieh breaking the sound barrier and creating a powerful blast.
"Meanwhile, the April Understanding Monitoring Group has been in session at the UNIFIL's HQ in Naqoura since 10:00 Tuesday.
"The panel is examining 15 complaints; the Lebanese delegation said it will not raise the complaints which had not been discussed during AUMG's last session which was suspended when the "Israeli" side walked out of the meeting in order to escape condemnation".
"Enemy radio said the "Israeli" delegation will demand that the earlier complaints be studied".
For its part, the IR released a communiqué in which it reported
