Occupation to free some Khiam hostagesÂ…(1)
"The "Israeli" occupation forces are expected
to release through the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC)
within the next hours 22 Lebanese hostages held in al-Khiam detention center.
"Lebanon's representative at the April Understanding Monitoring Group Gen Maher al-Tufaili has told President Gen Emile Lahoud and Prime Minister Dr Salim al-Hoss that through the contacts among the group representatives during yesterday's meeting, it was decided that 22 detainees will be freed. The date for the release was not announced.
"Agence France Presse quoted security sources as saying that the "Israeli" occupation forces are likely to release 17 Lebanese detainees from al-Khiam, all of them in bad health conditions, adding that the release will take place before Fitr Day.
"On the other hand, reports said the occupation forces on Sunday moved 38 new detainees to al-Khiam detention center.
"The new inmates were detained in the occupation's militia detention centers in al-Khiam, al-Qlaia, Marjeyoun, Rmeish, Dibel, and Bint Jbeil.
"They were arrested during campaigns against villages and houses in the occupied zone. Three women were among those taken to al-Khiam".
Soldier succumbs to Lebanon War woundÂ…(2)
"Corporal Aharon Ketzef, who died earlier this
week from complications related to injuries he sustained during the Lebanon
War, was laid to rest yesterday.
"Ketzef, 36, was doing his compulsory army service in the elite Golani division when the war broke out. He was shot in the hip and lightly injured at the Burj al Barajneh refugee camp in August, 1982, but fell into a coma following surgery at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer to remove the bullet. He never recovered.
"Last week Ketzef's condition worsened, and he died on Monday. The funeral was held yesterday at the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery in Tel Aviv.
"Ketzef's mother, Tzila, told Channel 2 yesterday that her son had "come to the hospital healthy, the doctors screwed up and threw him to the dogs afterwards".
