Introduction
The successive and successful Islamic Resistance (IR) bangs had made the "Israeli" occupation forces and their agents facing what can be clearly described as Jezzine's dilemma. As a direct result of the IR powerful military attacks, "Israel" is now ready and willing to return Jezzine area to the government and withdraw its troops from Kfar Houna according to senior security sources.

Meanwhile, members of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY), who are visiting Lebanon for the first time, are so astonished over the different methods of torture used in the detention camps controlled, directly or indirectly, by the "Israeli" troops.

"Israeli" Jezzine's Dilemma
The daily IR's blows leveled at the "Israelis" occupation forces and their collaborators in the occupied region of South Lebanon had mounted increasingly the "Israeli" casualties.

The long tall of these casualties had made the "Israeli" to search for a certain outlet. The Lebanese Daily Star (1) newspaper quoted senior security sources as saying:

"Israel" is ready and willing to return the Jezzine enclave to the government and withdraw its troops from Kfar Houna to new front line positions, possibly as far south as the Litani River gorge, according to senior security sources."

"But before withdrawing, the "Israeli" will require a simple assurance that South Lebanon Army* militiamen and their families in Jezzine are not harassed once the enclave is returned to the state."

"While similar to the 1991 Jezzine First proposal, the sources said that "Israel" was no longer willing to hold onto Jezzine to gain the maximum concessions from Lebanon and Syria but would make do instead with a “minimum guarantee”.

"The sources said the decision reflected a growing mood within the "Israeli" army towards adopting a purely defensive role in the zone and, at all costs, minimising casualties which have become politically unacceptable.

"A security source said that there was “absolutely no military justification for remaining north of the Litani and the "Israelis" know it, but they’re stuck there because of the SLA in Jezzine”.

"The militia in Jezzine is reportedly on the verge of collapse after a concentration of resistance attacks on the enclave and the replacement of the former regional commander Emile Nasr with Joseph Karam, who is from the north and has little support within the enclave."

"The government has repeatedly declared that it would offer no guarantees to the "Israelis" or the SLA, but has said that the Lebanese army was ready to deploy in any vacated area. On the other hand, an unconditional withdrawal from Jezzine is unlikely due to the domestic backlash in "Israel" and the ramifications on SLA morale if the enclave is perceived to have been discarded and left to its fate.

“They can’t abandon their SLA allies as this wouldn’t be good for future relations with the militia,” the security source said.

"However, the diplomat suggested that "Israel" may cut its losses and abandon the SLA if it felt that the militia could no longer serve its purpose. "

“The Israelis may change their perception of the SLA and regard them more as a liability than an asset and may wish to drop the militia overall,” he said.

"The alternative would be to send "Israeli" troops into Jezzine to bolster the militia."

"But this would only increase casualties, running contrary to current policy."

"A redeployment to the Litani would relinquish around 13 posts, including some of the most heavily attacked positions in the occupation zone such as Sojod, Dabshe, Bir Kallab and Rihan. The withdrawal would also tighten the perimeter of the zone by around 40km, and, coupled with the natural barrier of the Litani ravine, the new front line would be easier to defend and therefore would reduce casualties."

“The "Israelis" are sitting in their bunkers doing nothing. The zone is only 3km or 4km wide elsewhere, so why does it have to be 30km wide in the central sector? They’re simply hanging on for Jezzine,” the security source said.

"In recent months, the "Israeli" army has become increasingly sensitive to casualties. Since Lt Gen Shaul Mofaz was appointed chief of staff in July, he has taken greater measures to safeguard troops serving in the south, amid growing opposition to the occupation from within "Israel"".

“Everyone’s entitled to say that everything must be done to minimise our casualties in south Lebanon. Indeed, we must do everything to minimise our casualties,” Mofaz said in a recent interview with Maariv.

"Israel" looks south… (2)
"It should come as little surprise that the "Israeli" army has lost interest in holding the stretch of the occupation zone running north of the Litani River to Kfar Houna", below Jezzine.

"The salient once served a strategic purpose as a buffer against the Syrian army’s western flank in the Bekaa and cut the roads between the south and the western Beq"aa. But this is no longer relevant in "Israel’s" bitter, low-intensity conflict with the resistance. Instead, Israeli troops are now confined to reinforced concrete bunkers in the central sector where they can do little more than listen to the daily chorus of incoming mortar rounds."

"Ironically, the "Israelis" are unable to deploy further south because of their support for the South Lebanon Army in Jezzine. The "Israelis" are obviously fed up with the south and it seems clear that they will leave when they feel able to. But despite their desire to pull back to the relative safety of the Litani, they will cling to Jezzine until they receive something, anything, from Beirut and Damascus."

"They should be prepared for a long wait. The government has said it will give no guarantees to "Israel" whatsoever and there is little to suggest that this attitude will change."

In an Attempt to Curb their Losses, Collaborators Abduct Citizens and Count the Jezzine Area Residents
"The Lahd militia which collaborates with the "Israeli" occupation forces last Saturday detained Johnny George Safi, 25, in the occupied town of Jezzine", security sources in Sidon (south) said.

"Safi was born in Sidon. He lives in the Senieq area and works as a truck driver. It is not known where the proxy militia has taken him", the sources added.

"Moreover, security sources in Jezzine said militiamen in the security unit of the new militia chief in Jezzine, Joseph Karam (alias Alloush) have distributed forms to the residents of the occupied town of Roum. "

"The forms are to be filled with information on the status of each family, the number of the family members, their movements, and their visitors", the sources said.

"Those who would not fill the form were threatened with being arrested, the sources added explaining that the new measures by the collaborates aim to curb the security infiltration in the area after a series of successful operations carried out by the resistance."

"A large number of collaborator officials have been killed recently in IR operations"… (3)

"Furthermore, security sources in the south said an explosion last night targeted a collaborator militia wiretapping center in Jezzine. The sources gave no further details."

"In the meantime, hundreds of Israeli parents whose sons occupy south Lebanon demonstrated outside the "Israeli" war ministry in Tel Aviv demanding that the enemy government immediately pull out its troops from south Lebanon."

"The demonstrators carried banners denouncing the continued occupation in light of the considerable losses inflicted on the "Israeli" army by the resistance operations… (4)

"Israeli" Aggressions:
The following are the "Israeli" aggressions as mentioned in a communiqué issued by the IR:
00:10, an M.K. surveillance aircraft hovered over Naameh area.
11:30, the helicopters soared over Mount-Al Rafih.
11:45, Mount-Al Rafih came under a barrage of heavy machine gun rounds.
12:00, the "Israeli" choppers soared over Iqleem Al-Toffah heights.
18:40, Jezzine emplacement fired four 120mm shells at Toumat area.
18:45, a tank stationed near Roum post hit the surroundings of Meshnaqa position with tow rounds whereas Roum post combed its surroundings with a volley of 12.7mm heavy machine gun rounds.
19:05, Bir Kallab fired six grenades and a barrage of 12.7mm heavy machine gun rounds at its surroundings.
20:25, Sojod outpost raked its surroundings with Mag machine gun fire.

Young visitors learn about the horrors of "Israel’s" prisons from former detainees… (6)
"After visiting Lebanon for the first time, members of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) have gained a greater understanding of the situation facing Lebanese detainees in Israeli prisons, the Palestinian refugees and socio-economic conditions."

"Lebanon’s representative within IUSY, the Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO), organised an extensive schedule for the group, who came mostly from Europe and Latin America, to give them a clearer picture of Lebanon’s internal problems as well as the country’s role in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

After spending five days in the country, the group left on Monday for Jordan and are then due to visit the Palestinian Authority and "Israel"".

“We were very shocked when we heard the former detainees talk about their terrible experiences,” said IUSY’s Italian president, Umberto Gentiloni, after visiting released detainees, including Mohammed Safa and Riad Issa of the Follow-up Committee for the Support of Lebanese Detainees in "Israeli" Prisons."

“We learned that four people were held in two metre-by-one-metre cells, tortured frequently, given little food and allowed to shower only once a month,” he added.

“We’ll report what we’ve learned to our "Israeli" peers with the Labour Youth Leadership to push them into lobbying their government,” said Gentiloni.

"The governing board members will also pass on what they have learned to political organisations in at least 132 countries."

“By reporting what they have learned here to members in Tel Aviv, these young people will stir opposition within "Israel", and that’s important,” said Safa.

"The union was mainly concerned with Palestinians inside Gaza and the West Bank, but after visiting the camps in Lebanon, they realised that the refugees here needed as much support as those living in their homeland, said Rindala Hilal of the PYO."

"Their view of the Lebanese resistance has also changed. They came to Lebanon convinced that everything could be solved politically instead of through violence", she said.

"But after meeting with released detainees, Hizbullah leaders and listening to government officials, they realised Lebanon was justified in having a national resistance", Hilal said.

"Shafiq Masri, a professor of international law, said that Europe would have to play a much bigger role in the Arab world and in the Middle East peace process to further its economic interests in the area."

"This was important for the European-Arab youth dialogue started in 1993 by IUSY and the Arab Youth Union", he added.

"The PYO is a member of both organisations and forms the link between the two unions."

"The European-Arab forum was initiated to counter the European-Middle Eastern youth dialogue, which excluded a large number of Arab countries and included "Israel", said Zaher Raad of PYO.

“The European-Middle Eastern dialogue enhances normalisation with "Israel", and as Arabs, we’re against that,” he said.

"Seventy Arab and European organisations are to meet in Strasbourg early next year to discuss, among other issues, European policies towards the Arab world."

* It is an "Israeli" nomination we absolutely reject for it contradicts with Lebanon's independence and sovereignty. This army is not but an "Israeli" agent working for realizing "Israel's" goals in Lebanon.
