Introduction
"Lahd's proposal regarding Jezzine is part of the coordinated "Israeli"
political, military and security assault which had been expressed in the
measures taken in Jezzine and in the campaign launched by some people which
included a lot of nonsense attacks against respected figures", a Hizbullah
senior official said.
However, the diplomatic sources rejected the proposal made by the "Israeli" agent Antoine Lahd to pull out of the district if Lebanon reactivated the army battalion in the Homsieh barracks in Jezzine and prevented the resistance from staging attacks from the vacated areas.
Hizbullah: the Resistance Forced the Occupation and its Collaborators
to Withdraw from Toumat Niha
"A Hizbullah senior official said collaborator Antoine Lahd's recent
position is not different from what has already been reiterated by his
"Israeli" masters."
"Lahd's proposal regarding Jezzine is part of the coordinated "Israeli" political, military, and security assault which has been expressed in the measures taken in Jezzine and the campaign launched by some people which included a lot of nonsense and attacks against respected figures", the official said.
"This assault aims to revive the "Israeli" "Lebanon first" proposal in an attempt to change the unity of Lebanese stand of backing the Resistance into a Lebanese-Lebanese debate over the resistance", he added.
"The Hizbullah official stressed that "The national stand regarding the occupation has become so immune that it can not be penetrated, although some proposals have attracted a few politically desperate or frustrated people. The Resistance did not wish to take part in the bickering in order not to allow the "Israeli" assault to reach its goals."
"The bickering and the tense atmospheres underline that any single negotiation or settlement will jeopardize the national unity and weaken the Lebanese position", he said.
"Collaborator Lahd's proposals do not aim to find a solution for Jezzine, but for the occupation, in addition to trying to put an end to the occupation's dilemma and to continue the separation of Arab negotiation tracks, the Hezbollah official added, stating that "Antoine Lahd's proposal serves as acknowledgment that he (Lahd) is the only obstacle preventing a Lebanese-army deployment in the area, because the army cannot enter an occupied territory."
"The call for an army deployment in Jezzine now is an invitation for a military confrontation which will not be in the interest of the Lebanese army", he said.
"If this happens through engagement in negotiations, we would be dragged into where "Israel" wanted us to be. Antoine Lahd must pull out of Jezzine as he did from Toumat Niha, due to the Resistance blows", he concluded.
Hizbullah's Deputy Secretary-General, Sheikh Naem Qassem, didn't believe that Lahd's comments indicated an imminent pullout from the Jezzine area."
"What would "Israel" give as the reason for a withdrawal to their people?" he asked.
"Is it to protect its army? If this were so why doesn't it withdraw completely? If it were able to find justifications for a partial withdrawal, why has "Israel" remained in the south for all this time? The "Israelis" are possibly not discussing the issue of a withdrawal because they cannot answer these questions," he said (1)
"However, the diplomatic sources rejected the proposal made by (the
collaborators) commander Antoine Lahd to pull out of the district if Lebanon
reactivated the army battalion in the Homsieh barracks in Jezzine and prevented
the resistance from staging attacks from the vacated areas."
"The sources said the government wouldnt give the ("Israeli" allied
militia) any guarantees for withdrawing from Jezzine."
If the (collaborators militia) wants to pull out let it do so but the government wont give it any guarantees. The army is ready to occupy any positions evacuated by (what so-called) to maintain security in the Jezzine region, one source said.
If this withdrawal were to take place there would be no need to give Lahd the guarantees he asked for, the source added. The army doesnt allow anyone to carry arms or to launch military operations from the region it controls because it would open a military front that would harm Jezzine and drag the army into an unwanted confrontation with Israel.
"The sources said that the ("Israeli" proxy militia) should withdraw
from Jezzine because it would defuse the tension which has prompted hundreds
of residents to flee the area in the last few months."
"They rejected Lahds explanations for the recent measures he ordered
to restrict residents movements, saying that they were meaningless."
Lahds statements are nonsense. Hes trying to conceal the fact that Jezzine is under undeclared "Israeli"- occupation, another diplomatic source said.
"Residents leaving the region have to obtain permits from the (collaborators) 48 hours before departure."
"Interior minister Michel Murr said the issue of Jezzine was intertwined with the wider situation in the south and said he supported the resistance."
I discussed the situation in Jezzine with Nabih Berri. This issue cannot be dissociated from the situation in south Lebanon, Murr said after meeting the speaker. I fully support the resistance because it is the means by which we will liberate our land.
"Batroun MP Butros Harb rejected the calls made to spare the lives of collaborators."
We shouldnt mix the need to spare civilians lives and the protection of collaborators with Israel. We should make a distinction between the civilians who had to live under occupation and collaborators, Harb said after meeting Hizbullahs secretary-general, sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. The resistance is a national action and it should include Lebanese from all faiths, Harb said. Sacrifices should not be paid by one community" (2)
Mofaz admits helplessness before Hizbullah
(3)
"The "Israeli" enemy chief of staff Shaul Mofaz acknowledged that his
occupation forces are helpless in the continuous confrontation with the
Islamic Resistance."
"It is difficult to decide the outcome of the confrontation with Hizbullah. In such a confrontation, victories are specific and limited" he told the "Israeli" radio."
