In a clear indication of powerlessness and inefficiency in confronting the Mujahedeen face to face in the battlefield, the "Israeli" occupation forces retaliated with staging several air raids which caused no casualties by crushed stones only.
IR Operations:
Four SLA men killed in roadside bombing
"In the deadliest attack against the South Lebanon Army so far this year, four militiamen were killed in a massive bomb blast in Jezzine."
"The roadside bomb attack, which was claimed by Hizbullah, appeared to have been an attempt to assassinate the new (Lahd's Militia) commander for Jezzine, Joseph Karam.
A civilian car and a military jeep, reportedly belonging to Karam, were driving along the road between the village of Ain Majdalain and the (so-called) SLA position at Toumat Niha when the bomb exploded at 12.10pm, killing all four occupants of the jeep."
"The bodies of the four men were left lying on the road for 45 minutes, according to a security source, until (Lahd's Militia) were reassured that the Hizbullah guerrillas had left the area."
"According to Hizbullah, the fatalities were Roukoz Roukoz the (collaborators') intelligence chief for Jezzine, Hanna Hanna, Iskandar Haikal and George Chamoun."
"Karam was not in the convoy."
"The deadly attack, coming a day after two (Lahdi) members were killed and four wounded in another roadside bomb blast, raised the total militia casualties so far this year to 33 killed and 35 wounded."
"The bomb attack was in response to a decision by (the "Israeli" agents Antoine Lahd) to restrict the movement of Jezzines residents to and from the district, according to Hizbullahs southern commander sheikh Nabil Qaouk."
The tightening of the grip on Jezzine by Lahd confirms the theory weve been repeating that the Lahdists are not for the protection of Jezzine but are there to pressure and control its residents in preparation to blackmail the Lebanese authorities and the resistance into making concessions for the benefit of "Israel", he said in a statement.
"Lahd has announced that as of October, Jezzines residents will have to apply 48 hours in advance for travel permits allowing them to leave the area. The move is an apparent attempt to clamp down on those suspected of cooperating with the resistance and military intelligence."
"Lahd imposed the restrictions after a spate of assaults on the Toumat Niha post overlooking Mashghara which was once left relatively undisturbed."
"Last month, Lahd appointed Joseph Karam, commander of the Jezzine district, replacing Emile Nasr. Nasr, who was responsible for the shelling of Sidon in August 1997 in which seven civilians were killed and 42 wounded, was apparently deemed too soft by Lahd who preferred Karams reputed iron fist to restore order in the militia".
"Karam, who is from the north, has no solid support in Jezzine unlike Nasr who is a native" (1)
However, the IR announced in its communiqué the responsibility
for the following attacks:
12:10, the IR squad of two martyrs Faraj Ballouk and Hassan Saalouk
blew up a powerful explosive device as military vehicle related to the
command of the Both Bridge of Lahd's Militia was travelling on the road
of Toumat Niha killing all its members.
16:55, the IR men ambushed a motorized collaborator patrol as its was
passing on the road leading to Bir Kallab outpost. The group of both martyrs

grenades destroying an M-113 military vehicle and inflicting all its members

Ma'ariv: Collaborators' morale is increasingly flagging
"The collaborator militia's "morale is flagging, particularly now,
as they are uncertain about their future on the eve of an Israeli withdrawal
from south Lebanon," an "Israeli" newspaper said.
"Ma'ariv quoted security sources as saying that the proxy militiamen fear that after the occupation forces' pullout they will stand trial for collaboration with the enemy."
"The militia's senior officers have obtained foreign passports to be able to flee the country; some of them have already begun surrendering to the Lebanese army", the sources told the "Israeli" daily (3)

Two spies for Israel held
"Two people have been arrested by the authorities in Tyre and Akkar
on charges of spying for "Israel"", security sources said.
"The sources, who gave no date for the arrest, identified the two men as Akif Abdul-Amir from Mahrouna in Tyre and Youssef Hamad Nayouf from Jdeidet Qatih in Akkar."
"They said both men confessed to spying for "Israel" for money."
"Abdul-Amir admitted providing the "Israelis" with information on the identity and movements of Lebanese officials in several political parties."
"He said he channeled the information through (the "Israeli" proxy militiamen) Ahmad Abdullah, known as Ahmad Tannous, inside the occupied zone."
"The source said Abdul-Amir had acquired a visa for Bulgaria on the orders of an Israeli officer who also asked him to get a visa for Hungary, which he was unable to do before his arrest."
"Nayouf admitted dealing with the "Israelis" between 1993 and 1995 and entering "Israel" three times during which he met "Israeli" intelligence officers whom he supplied with information on the activities of the Lebanese army and the locations of political parties" (5)
Collaborators detain mayor of Arnoun
(6)
"In another violation of the April Understanding, a force of the collaborators'
militia stormed into the town of Arnoun and detained the town's Mokhtar,
Afif Hamdan."
"The agents took Hamdan to their command HQ in Marjeyoun. He was released a few hours later after being questioned. He was threatened that the town's residents will be displaced or harassed if they do not obey the collaborators."
Freed prisoner Bshara joins the Thursday Mothers' sit-in
(7)
"Thursday Mothers staged their weekly sit-in in front of the International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) HQ in Hamra (Beirut). Several figures
took part in the sit-in including freed prisoner Soha Bshara."
'Speaking to the gathering, former MP Issam Naaman said "the persistence of the prisoners' mothers combined with the resistance of the Mujahedeen in the south to secure freeing Soha Bshara and other detainees."
"For her part, Bshara underlined the necessity of taking all forms of action, including sit-ins and armed resistance, to free the detainees in "Israeli" prisons. She greeted all the prisoners in occupation's detention centers."
"Follow-up Committee for the Lebanese Detainees in "Israeli" prisons (FCLD) Secretary Mohammed Safa said the next sit-in will be in Baalbek (Beqaa) on the 12th anniversary of detaining prisoners Mohammed Berjawi and Suleiman Ramadan."
After demolishing Palestinian's Home, "Israel" bulldozes his orchard
(8)
"Weeks after the "Israeli" army demolished Ata Jaber's home outside
Hebron, troops returned Thursday to uproot scores of fruit trees on the
land he cultivated. "They destroyed my house because they said I didn't
have a permit to build it, but what permit do I need to cultivate my own
land," Jaber shouted as an army bulldozer tore through the orchard."
"This is barbaric, savage and I call on Ross to come here and see what kind of peace "Israel" is talking about," he said, referring to US peace envoy Dennis Ross who arrived in "Israel" on Wednesday. Jaber, 37, said his family's home was demolished by the army several weeks ago because he had not obtained an "Israeli" permit to build."
"Jaber's orchard and former home were located near a bypass road built by "Israel" so "Israelis" living in nearby Jewish settlements could reach their enclaves without passing through populated Palestinian areas. The "Israeli" army often targets for demolition homes built without formal authorization near the bypass roads or the 144 Jewish settlements in the West Bank."
"Palestinians complain that the military rarely grants them permission to build new houses or expand existing homes in the areas of the West Bank still under full "Israeli" control. "Israel" has declared wide swathes of the territory "state-owned land" when families cannot provide deeds proving the land is theirs, even if they have cultivated the plots for generations".
"Housing demolitions and the destruction of crops are among the most controversial and emotionally charged measures taken by the "Israeli" army in the occupied territories. The Palestinian Authority has demanded that "Israel" agree to halt the demolitions as part of a US-drafted peace package which has been under negotiation for months."
