June Friday 12-1998:

Introduction:
The Hebrew State persisted in its aggressions against Lebanon where the “Israeli” batteries shelled Joune, to the south of Beirut. Elsewhere, the “Israeli” Army carried out several assaults against the civilians violating Lebanon’s sovereignty.

However, “Israel’s” violations provoked Lebanon’s condemnation and warning of an “Israeli” dangerous escalation in South Lebanon.

While Lebanon is getting ready to present a complaint over the air strike on Joune village, Hizbullah is seeking to complete the exchange of hostages and martyrs’ bodies in return for the remains of the “Israeli” soldier.

A Complaint against “Israel” (1):
Lebanon had presented a complaint to the Five-Nation Monitoring Committee concerning the sortie staged yesterday evening by “Israel’s” air force on Joune, Chouf District, causing damage to a number of its houses and displacing many of its residents.

The Lebanese delegation prepared a complete file about this assault in order to be presented to the Committee which will hold its meeting on the beginning of the coming week.

As to the “Israeli’ shelling of Joune village, there were several stances made by the Lebanese Minister of Foreign affairs Fares Boueiz and Minister Elias Hanna.

For his part, Hanna (2) announced: “We reject that Joune and its innocent residents to be easy targets for “Israel” and its collaborators. The continuation of the “Israeli” aggressions which reached to Iqleem Al-Kharroub cann’t be only considered as a breach but rather as revocation for April 1996 Understanding”.

Boueiz denied any military or security arrangements, similar to those happened at Naqoura on November 1984, in return for an “Israeli” retreat from South Lebanon.

However, Al-Nahar Lebanese newspaper (4) reported that diplomatic sources said Lebanon had decided to launch a condensed diplomatic campaign in United States of America, France and other countries in addition to United Nations.

Lebanon will draw attention to the seriousness of the “Israeli” military escalation against the liberated areas under the pretense of retaliation of the resistance activities, the sources mentioned.
“The sorties launched at Joune town fell in line with that staged at Taanayel in Beqaa one month ago”, the sources. Also, Lebanon will present a compliant against “Israel” to the Five-Nation Monitoring Committee.

“Israeli” Aggressions (5)
The following are the “Israeli” aggressions as mentioned in the statement issued by the Islamic Resistance:
00:10, an M.K. reconnaissance aircraft hovered, at middle altitude, over Shaqra, Qabrikha and Majdal Selem villages.
00:20, a drone reconnaissance plane flew low over Zahrani area, while an M.K. reconnaissance aircraft soared over East Saida.
00:45, the warplanes flew in the airspace of Central Beqaa.
10:15, an “Israeli” helicopters hovered, at middle altitude, over Jamousa position.
10:20, four 120mm shells emanating from Rihan area struck Al-Rafih Mountain.
10:45, the “Israeli” fighters flew in the airspace of South and Western Beqaa.
10:50, the jet airplanes conducted mock air raids over Iqleem Al-Tuffah and flew in the airspace of Bent Jbeil, Nabatieh and East Saida areas.
11:45, the warplanes flew in the airspace of Western Beqaa.
13:10, the helicopters hovered low over Rihan area.
13:25, the “Israeli” choppers soared over Joune and East Saida areas.

Islamic Resistance Operations (6):
On May, the various factions of resistance staged 144 military operations distributed as follows:
 - Islamic Resistance: 131 military operations i.e. 91% of the total operations.
 - Amal Movement: 9 operations.
 - Lebanese Resistance Brigades: 3 operations.
 - Islamic Jihad Movement for Liberation of Palestine: one.

However, the “Israeli” enemy admitted that two soldiers of sergeant rank were killed and three others injured, whereas five “Israeli” agents were killed and one wounded.

It is note worthy that all the enemy’s human losses were inflicted by the Islamic Resistance Operations.

For its part, the Islamic Resistance confirmed the number of “Israeli” casualties, but declared that seven “Israeli” agents not five were killed and three others not one wounded.

On the other hand, the news agencies reported that two “Israeli” soldiers’ agents were killed and seven others wounded.

As to the martyrs of Islamic Resistance, they can be identified as Mohammad Abdel-Hussein Moselmani and Mohammad Ali El-Husseini.

Elsewhere, the Islamic Resistance announced that the group of martyr Mohammad Hussein Bshir targeted, at 19:45, Blat position with the adequate arms scoring direct hits.

Exchanging Hostages and Martyrs Corpses (7):
In this regard, the newspaper Ibrahim Bairam published an article. Here are the excerpts:
“Following eight months of an indirect and intermittent negotiations between Hizbullah and “Israel” pertaining to the exchange of a lot of hostages and about forty martyrs’ corpses with the body parts of the “Israeli” soldier who perished in the bungled Insarieh operation on September 5-1997 had come to its end”.

“The news reported that, so far, the only obstacle to fix an appointment is the dispute over the details of the implementation mechanism. Hizbullah wants to know the fate and whereabouts of their bodies”.

“However, Hizbullah reported the negotiation had passed through four main stages”:

 - First: “Israel” offered that it will deliver the militants’ corpses in return for the “Israeli” bodily parts, but Hizbullah rejected.

 - “Second: The delegate of the International Committee for the Red Cross carried Hizbullah’s offer of releasing hostages from the “Israeli” jails and Khiam detention camp upon which “Israel” had agreed”.

 - “Third: The negotiations concentrated on the names of hostages who should be released. In this regard, “Israel”, absolutely, refused any discussions related to the release of Sheikh Abdel-Karim Obeid and Mustafa Dirani”.

 - “Fourth: It was agreed that fifty hostages should be released from Khiam detention camp and ten others from the “Israeli” prisons”.

“Hizbullah’s sources said that it retains four legs related to two “Israeli” soldiers in addition to a brain and several hands, teeth and articulations”.

“These human parts along with arms items, hand grenades, diving clothes, serum sacks, bandages and three military shoes had been exposed before the correspondents on the next day of Insarieh operation. The news reported that Hizbullah is keeping the remains in a refrigerator”.

“It should be noted that the “Israeli” bungled operation at Insarieh resulted in killing twelve “Israeli” soldiers, some of them their body parts remained at the scene. Hizbullah had kept most of these remains for their fighters only were in the battlefield whereas the others came after the “Israeli” commando had retreated”.

“The operation, as it had been well known, occurred at Insarieh village, 15kms south of Saida. At 12:45am of September 5-1997, an “Israeli” naval commando force of sixteen soldiers commanded by Major Youssef Kourkin landed at its coast”.

“Most accounts reported that twelve soldiers of this force marched a distance of three kms towards a target located at the perimeter of Insarieh village. The target is said be a senior military official of the Islamic Resistance who would had been kidnapped or liquidated. But the force had fallen in a tight ambush set up by the Islamic Resistance fighters. As a result all the “Israeli” soldiers had been killed except the communication operator”.

“The “Israeli” soldier, who had been blown into pieces, was carrying explosives, the accounts mentioned”.

“Immediately afterwards, the “Israelis”, escorted by the choppers, rushed into the scene. Following one hour fierce battle, the “Israeli” helicopter gunships, which raked intensely the area, managed to evacuate all the casualties except the remains of the “Israeli” sergeant Itamar Ilya”.

“At the same time, hot debates had been raised inside “Israel’s” military command pertaining to the reasons that caused such losses which considered as a big bang”.

“Zaif Chef, a well-known “Israeli” military commentator said: “The time of opening fire at the “Israeli” commandos unit was so accurate. Hizbullah’s ambush had characterized by high and practical tactic”. He concluded: “We were surprised. Also, we had paid a very precious cost for we hadn’t believed that the other party may act in an advanced manner”.

“Yitzhac Mordechai, “Israel’s” Minister of Defense, said in an interview with “Israel’s” TV: “All the necessary precautions had been taken, but I don’t know what exactly happened. The operation targeted a place where the readiness and alertness levels of the other party were expected to be low”.

“Also, wide discussions had been raised about a double agent upon whose information the ambush of Islamic Resistance was set up. At the same time, the news reported, that the name of senior Islamic Resistance’s military commander was used as a decay to lure the “Israelis” into the designed ambush”.

“Not to be used by the enemy, Hizbullah neither confirmed nor rejected this news and kept it in secret”.

“Needless to say, Hizbullah was, then, on its best level of alertness for it had been provided by information over the possibility of launching attacks by the “Israelis” deep inside the liberated areas of South Lebanon in order to strike the Islamic Resistance commanders and fighters and to sow the turmoil and panic among the people. Kfour operation which happened before one month and one day was a clear example”.

“In that operation, “Israel” had air dropped two groups at the outskirts of Kfour village, Nabatieh District. One of these two groups served as protector for the second which planted the bombs. As a car was passing by, the “Israelis” detonated them causing the martyrdom of five militants”.

“Hizbullah’s Secretary General H.E. Sayed Hassan Nassrallah asserted in a press conference on the next day of Insarieh bungled assault, which later on Hizbullah named it as “Abbas Trap”, that the militants were on their high level of preparedness. “Following Kfour’s aggression and several attempts made by the “Israeli” troops to breakthrough and infiltrate into the liberated areas, the Islamic Resistance proceeded organizing night guard throughout the South”, he said”.

“Also, the Islamic Resistance groups were planting bombs and mines at specified places that may form as a passage for the enemy. Fearing of blowing up by the civilians, these bombs and mines had been extracting in the morning”, he ended”.

Yes, the question is: How did the “Israeli” soldiers managed to advance and stop exactly at the mine fields made by Hizbullah?

Is it an accident or in advance tightened trap? At any way the battle had been ended eleven months ago leaving behind “Israeli” soldier’s parts now are under negotiations.

He had martyrized on 12-6-1998 as he was performing his Islamic sacred duties.
