UN condemns "Israel's" practices (1)
The United Nations Human Rights Committee expressed its deep concern
for "Israel's" rejection of applying the international covenant over the
civil and political rights. "Israel" should apply the covenant in Lebanese
and Palestinian occupied territories for they are under its "actual control",
as the committee said.
The Human Rights Committee, made up of eighteen independent experts, denounced "Israel" during its meeting, held in Geneva, because of torture methods it uses against the detainees during the interrogation. It called "Israel" to respect the principles of Human Rights in the occupied territories.
According to a report presented by the "Israeli" government and questions addressed by experts to an "Israeli" delegation, the Committee concluded its meeting with passing several recommendations and results.
Christin Chanite, Head of the Committee, considered that these recommendations and results imply a condemnation of the "Israeli" law and practice.
The Committee pointed out that "Israel's" delegation admitted with using the torture methods, such as shackling hands, using musks, exposing to violent shaking and depriving from sleeping as a technic to extract information from the detainees.
In this regard, it called "Israel" to waive such methods that are banned in accordance with the Article no: 7 of the Covenant.
Also, the committee expressed its concern over the administrative detention operations for security causes. It considered that some of these operation acquire a form of taking hostager in return for releasing soldiers missed in action.

An "Israeli" Inquiry Committee (4)
In the wake of the successful Islamic Resistance's attack in Rihan
area, the "Israeli" Army Northern Command had begun investigating the incident.
The "Israeli" Army has not ascertained whether the Hizbullah fighters ambushed
the "Israeli" soldiers or met them by chance. The bomb points to a planned
attack, but lately Hizbullah has not ambushed "Israeli" Army troops in
daytime. The command will also investigate whether Hizbullah forces had
planned an attack elsewhere in the area and decided to take advantage of
the situation when they saw the "Israeli' soldiers nearby. The inquiry
will also try to determine whether the "Israeli" forces were sufficiently
equipped and whether the rescue forces acted properly.
A week ago, senior Hizbullah officials hinted that they would soon try to abduct "Israeli" Army soldiers to increase their bargaining power in negotiations for the release of Shi'ite prisoners held by "Israel".
Beating Ten "Israeli" soldiers (5):
Haifa - based weekly Colbou newspaper reported that ten "Israeli" soldiers
had been beaten by four Arab youngsters.
The "Israeli" police forces "sought not to publish any information over this issue for it may be viewed as a national shame", the newspaper said.
It added that the soldiers engaged in hand-to-hand fighting on the past Tuesday night with the four Arab young men on Haifa seashore.
A police officer "preferred not to propagate any thing about this matter for it forms as a shame on the "Israeli" Army where four Arab young men managed to beat and overcome ten "Israeli" soldiers", the paper mentioned.
The hand-to-hand fighting resulted in wounding seriously three soldiers, who were moved to the hospital for treatment, whereas one Arab young man only was lightly injured.
