Also, two families in Nabatieh region had a narrow escape when their houses were struck by "Israeli" shells.

At around midnight a 105mm shell smashed into the balcony of a one-storey house owned by Ibrahim Shakaroun in Kfar Romman's neighborhood.

"Thank God we only suffered material losses. But the children were very scared", Shakaroun said. He added that the shell had shattered all of the windows in the house.

A second house was struck by another 105mm shell. The shell destroyed the water tank on the roof. The occupants of the building, Mohammad Jaber, his wife and five children escaped unscathed.

Expulsion (3)
The "Israeli" occupation troops expelled this morning a man held in Khiam detention camp for six months and who was subjected to torture, security sources said. They said Khozai Jamil Barakat, 45, was driven to the government held territory through Zimraya crossing point in the Eastern Sector of South Lebanon.

Accused by helping Hizbullah fighters, Barakat was questioned by "Israel's" military intelligence apparatus. Barakat is now in hospital after suffering serious injuries as a result of torture at the hands of "Israeli" soldiers and their surrogates. He was held prisoner from his house in Hibbarieh last February. Barakat is an employee at the water company and has eleven children.

It should be noted here, that since "Israel" established the Khiam concentration camp, fifty Lebanese detainees have died as a result of torture. Moreover, "Israel" still holds about 130 Lebanese in Khiam and nearly 50 others in its prisons inside "Israel" breaching thus the international law and human rights standards.

Detention (4)
Civilians coming from the "Israeli" occupied enclave reported that "Israeli" troops had arrested two civilians - Imad Ahmad Soweid from the village of Debbine and Ahmad Youssef Al-Raghda from Khiam - and imprisoned them at Khiam detention center.

Closing a Crossing (5)
The "Israelis" hept the Kfar Tibbnit crossing closed for the second straight day. Security sources said the crossing was closed because (the "Israeli"-allied) "South Lebanon Army" militiamen refused to serve at the position, as it is regularly targeted by the resistance.

Islamic Resistance Operations:
In its 20-7-1998 statement, the Islamic Resistance assumed the responsibility of the following attacks:
21:25, the group of martyr Hassan Jamil Hammoud attacked an enemy force as it was fortifying positions in the occupied enclave with the suitable arms chalking up direct goals.
23:45, the group of martyr Hadi Msheimesh targeted enemy movements outside of Haddatha compound with the adequate weapons scoring direct hits.

Security systems fighting the espionage actions (6)
The Lebanese security systems arrested four Palestinians from Saida for suspicions of collaborating with the "Israeli" enemy. Among the arrested, two belong to "Fatah" Movement headed by Yasser Arafat. The security systems requested the command of Fatah Movement in Ain Helwa Camp for handing over the suspected.

AFP quoted a Palestinian source as saying that the Palestinian competent systems delivered the officers Ahmad Al-Massri and Khaled Al-Qinn to the Lebanese authorities. The investigation centered on their relations with the "Israeli" spy cell which was disclosed on 8 July 1998.

Druze Religious Leader prohibited collaborating with "Israel" (7)
The Druze Religious Leader Sheikh Bahjat Ghaith condemned the "Israeli" plots aiming at sabotaging the national stability and peace and reiterated his disapproval of those who collaborated with the "Israeli" enemy.

Ghaith praised the Lebanese government and army for their success in disclosing the sabotage rings.
Also, he called on the citizens, of various sects and affiliations, not to fall in the Zionist schemes and finally prohibited collaborating with the "Israeli" enemy.

Washington disagrees with the Project International Criminal Court (8)
After "Israel's" opposition to setting up an "International Criminal Court over trying those accused of causing war, aggression, genocide and anti-human being crimes, Washington joined "Israel" in its opposition. If "the required amendments" were not entered into the project, Washington "would reserve for itself to protest strongly" against it.

"We have to convince those who drafted the text of the project in order to perform the necessary amendments".

"Otherwise, we will strongly reject it especially in the case that court will endanger USA's national interests", a spokesman of Department of State, James Robin, said.

The American statement this comes in the natural context of force logic adopted by Washington in the world today. USA and its preferred ally "Israel" consider themselves as above any international law or decision if it conflicted with their interests.

It should be mentioned here, that the real cause of the "Israeli" opposition to such a court for the latter undermines the main base on which Israel" born. The draft law of establishing the International Criminal Court will consider the settlement actions as war crime. It defined the settlement as" displacing, directly or indirectly, the civilians by an occupying force inside the occupied territories".(9)
