At one O'clock dawn, Mujahedeen fired, intensively, at the enemy force. Immediately afterwards, a harsh clashes broke out and it was not long until the Israeli helicopters introduced to support the marine commandos which came under a swift strike killing and wounding all of its members estimated to be up of seventeen soldiers. 

The chronology of vehement battles which continued until 4:30 am can be stated as follows:

Eight Israeli attempts to land further forces on the purpose of rescuing the marine commandos at the outskirts of Ansarieh and Khaizaran playfield were registered. These desperate attempts intensified the confontrations in which Mujagedeen attacked with mortar shells, heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades.

In its September 6/1997 edition, As-Safir published an interview with two of Islamic Resistance militants who shared with Ansarieh Operation. Here are the details: 

The triumphant Abou Shomran, Hizbullah's Command of Ansarieh Operation, and the fighter Bilal talked about the events of confantrations: 

"Avoiding the mistakes committed in Kfour incident led the Islamic Resistance to take more preemptive measures such as supporting the guarding points at the villages, towns and sites which could be probable targets for Israeli enemy. So, the guarding groups were backed up by roadside bombs in order to enable them to dominate, militarily, on their area of deployment and to hit as great as possible the enemy soldiers ". 

" This was the case of third guarding group of Ansarieh. So at 1:45 am, the members of this guarding group, about 2 km from the seashore and 100 m from Ansarieh itself, noticed remarkable motions which indicated to a probable landing since these motions came after flying the Israeli helicopters over Ansarieh and the neighboring villages ". 

" These motions became closer and it was not possible to identify exactly the intruders until they reached to 20 or 25 m from our point. Then and in addition to the uniforms and talking in Hebrew, we knew, precisely, that they were Israelis ". 

" After they had arrived in the mined spot, we blew up the six roadside bombs simultaneously ". 

" From the first moment, the Israelis were terribly shocked. The casualties estimated 20 to 25 between dead and wounded men. The guarding members divided into two groups. The first group fought face-to-face the survived four or five soldiers. During this clash, two of the first group militants were, slightly, injured. So, the second guarding group managed to withdraw the two casualties and then engaged in battle with the remaining soldiers ". 

" At that moment, the helicopters blitzed the area with rapid firing 'chain' guns and rockets ". 

" Meanwhile, the anti-aircrafts of Islamic Resistance and Lebanese Army were firing, intensively, at the Israeli enemy ". 

" Abou Shomran asserted that the only duty for the supporting Israeli planes represented in withdrawing the corpses from the battlefield. This continued about three and half an hour i.e. from 1:00 until 4:30 am ".

"Israeli" Repressive Actions: 

Two days ago and until now, the Israeli intelligence apparatus and its agents are imposing several abusive steps on the passengers of Hamra and Beit Yahoun crossing points. The young men, less than fourty years, are banned to get out of the occupied regions. Also, the women are subjected to precise frisking and searching. Furthermore, the Israeli forces are wiretapping the private telephone offices at the occupied zone.

The Israeli helicopters flying, at low height, came under anti-aircrafts fire from the Lebanese Army unit stationed along the coastline between Sineeq bridge, Saida, and Jiye town early morning. 

The Army units, also, mortared Israeli gunboats patrolling off the coast. 

Security sources said that the helicopter flights and the presence of warships were in the context of psychological warfare and were not part of an attempted landing.
