Research Centers Centre for Gulf Arab
Studies at the University of Exeter in Britain specializes in the interdisciplinary
study of the countries of the Gulf. The website offers basic information
about the Centre's activities and the resources it offers, including a documentation
unit on the Gulf countries (and some others) and the library's Middle East
collection. Opposition Movements & Organizations The Bahrain Human Rights Organization offers both local and international human rights reports on Bahrain, accounts of protests in the country as well as general information about the country in both English and Arabic. Voice of Bahrain/Bahrain Freedom Movement includes the organization's press releases, commentaries on the human rights situation in Bahrain, as well as petitions and other information about the opposition to the ruling family Washington office of Union of Yemeni Popular Forces has general information about the country, human rights reports, and news updates from Yemen. The Movement for Islamic Reform in Arabia publishes the group's communiques and newsletter Arabia Unveiled. The latter features interesting articles on opposition movements, the official `ulema', and an expose on the "Prince of the Month." The site has little new information since April 1997. Committee for Defense of Legitimate Rights (in Saudi Arabia), founded by Dr. Mohammad al-Masari, is the most well-known Saudi opposition movement.
