Settlements Update:

Construction continues in the
" Frozen" outposts

PEACE NOW: The Government agreement on the ligeal outposts is not worth the paper it was written on, the Prime Minister must evacuate the outposts, without further delay.

A survey conducted by the Settlement Watch of Peace Now movement, reveals that in roughly 64% (11 out of 17) of the outposts that were to have been frozen, houses have actually been added. And in 41% (7 out of 17) permanent housing has been added. Moreover, only half (4 out of 8) of the outposts that were to have been evacuated were in fact evacuated.

This clearly indicates that the "Outposts Agreement" was not implemented. The settlers' council has shown total contempt for the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Barak, and proved that the settlers are not a “trustworthy partner for negotiations” according to what Peace now research said.

“It is up to the Prime Minister to apply his authority for the rule of law and evacuate the outposts immediately." Said Gaby Lasky, director of peace now.

The Barak-Settler agreement was reached in October 1999. The agreement stipulated that of 42 illegal outposts, established under the Netanyahu regime, 17 would be legalized, 17 frozen and 8 evacuated.
