The Holy Prophet Mohammad (s) said: "Verily, I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you: the Book of Allah and my kindred (`itrah), my household (Ahl alBayt), for indeed, the two will never separate until they come back to me by the Pond (of alKawthar on the Judgement's Day)." "Al-Hasan and al-Husain are the chiefs of the youth of Paradise and Fatimah is the chief of their women." "Husain is from me and I am from Husain." "I am in war with those who will fight you (Ali, Hasan, Husain, and Fatimah), and in peace with those who are peaceful to you." "He who loves al-Hasan and al-Husain, loved me, and he who makes them angry has made me angry." "These (al-Hasan and al-Husain) are my sons and my daughter's sons. O' Allah, I love them, so I beseech Thee to love them and those who love them." Fatima brought her two sons, al-Hasan and al- Husayn to the Apostle of Allah (s) at the time when he was suffering from the sickness from which he died. "Apostle of Allah," she said, "these are your two (grand) sons. Give them something as an inheritance." "As for al-Hasan," he replied, "he has my form and my nobility. As for al-Husayn, he has my generosity and my bravery." al-Shafi'i said: If the love of the members of the House of the Prophet is Rafd (rejection), let mankind and the Jinns testify that I am a rejecter (Rafidi)." The Family of the Prophet are my intermediary to him! (waselate) Through them I hope to be given my record with the right hand. O' Family of Allah's Messenger! Their departure to the sea of error and ignorance
In the name of Allah I boarded the ship of Salvation
That is the Ahl al Bayt of Mustafa, the Seal of Prophecy
And I caught hold of the Rope of Allah, that is their Love
As He commanded us to hold fast to the Rope! The Rafidah: Rawafid is a term often used to denote those who show great love for the Household of the Prophet, and in this light Imam Shafi`i said, "If being Rafidi is loving the Household of Muhammad Then let all mankind and jinn testify that I am Rafidi." However, it is usually used with negative connotations. [ Reference : Al-Farq bayn al-Firaq (The Difference between the Sects) by Abu Tahir `Abd al-Qahir al-Baghdadi ]. Ibn Manzur says the following in his lexicon Lisan al-Arab where he defines the Shi`as: The Shi`as are the people who love what the Prophet's Progeny loves, and they are loyal to such Progeny. [ Refer to p. 189, Vol. 8, of Lisan al-Arab lexicon by Abul-Fadl Jamal ad-Din Muhammad Ibn Manzur (630 - 711 A.H./1233 - 1311 A.D.)]. Commenting on this statement, Dr. Sa`id Abd al-Fattah Ashoor says: "If the Shi`as love whatever the Prophet's Progeny loves and are loyal to such Progeny, who among the Muslims would refuse to be a Shi`a?!"
