Dr. Ruchama Marton
Born in Jerusalem, Dr. Marton is a psychiatrist who,
since 1960, has worked with a variety of groups struggling for peace with
their Palestinian neighbors. She has worked with both the committee for
Birzeit University and the committee against the war in Lebanon. In January
1988, she came to Gaza and visited Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj and Dr. Haider Abdel
Shafi and afterwards established the Israeli-Palestinian Physicians for
Human Rights. The organization started with 12 persons, but now has more
than 35. Recently she got a scholarship to Harvard University for peace
studies. She is also a member of the GCMHP Board of Advisors. |
