On 19 February 1999, Dr. Tamar Zelinker and Dr. Yolanda Gumpel from Tel Aviv University visited GCMHP.  They met Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj, Director, Mr. Ahmad Abu Tawahina, Deputy Director, and Mr. Abdel Hamid Afana, Director of Training and Education.

The meeting centered on GCMHP's plans to open an Institute of Community Mental Health in Gaza.  It was agreed to strengthen cooperation in light of the fact that Tel Aviv University has a similar program, and has experience in this regard.  It was agreed another meeting is to be held in order to continue discussing the preparatory steps for opening the institute in Gaza.
