On 25 October 2000, a delegation from UNICEF visited GCMHP. The delegation consisted of Mr. Bertrand Bainvel (Program Officer) and Reem Tarazi (Project Assistant-Gaza). They met Dr. Taysir Diab (Director of community mental health services) and Christina Abdel Shafi (Project Officer). Dr. Diab informed the guests about the activities of GCMHP in the current crisis, and the Programme's projects and activities. He also pointed to the events that could cause PTSD and how to deal with them. Finally, Dr. Diab indicated that GCMHP needs more staff to continue the crisis intervention in a systematic way.

On their part, the UNICEF delegation indicated its interest in GCMHP's work with children through the children project. They also discussed the Programme's emergency proposal and agreed to partially fund it with a donation of $US 45,000.

The meeting concluded with an understanding that future cooperation on a long-term basis will be discussed in the coming months.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Jabalia clinic with Basem Lafi.
