On 2 May 1999, UK-based Palestinian businessman, Abdel Muhsin Qattan, visited the GCMHP main building in Gaza. GCMHP Director, Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj, and a number of the administrative staff met the distinguished guest.
Discussion during the meeting focused on the general situation of the Palestinian people and challenges they face. All agreed on the need to consolidate efforts towards building civil society institutions adopting the principles of the rule of Law, democracy, and transparency. In addition, discussions included the activities and services rendered by GCMHP to the population of the Gaza Strip.
Dr. El-Sarraj stated that GCMHP offers community mental health services to victims of torture and violence who suffer from different mental problems. He also thanked Mr. Qattan and other Palestinian businessmen who support the Palestinian economy through infrastructure project and developing other sectors notably education.
A delegation of Palestinian Council for Construction and Development (PICDAR) accompanied Mr. Qattan on his visit.
