on Mental Health in an International
Conference in Italy
Dr. Abdel Aziz Thabit, Projects Manager at GCMHP, participated in the
First International Mental Health Conference in Trieste (Italy) organized
by the Italian Ministry of Health. Dr. Thabit presented a paper on
the "Philosophy, Work, and Vision of GCMHP" in which he discussed the pioneer
experience of GCMHP in the provision of community mental health services
to the Palestinian people. The paper also stressed the importance
of developing day care centers and closing mental asylums. In addition,
Dr. Thabit visited a number of Italian community mental health centers
to get acquainted with the most recent advancements and methods utilized,
which aim at replacing Psychiatric hospitals with community mental health
centers.
