On 3 February, a group from GCMHP including Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj, Dr. Tayseer Diab, medical director, Mr. Abdel Hamid Afana, director of Training and Education, visited the Minister of Health, Dr. Riyad El-Zanoon.  The meeting included representatives from all departments of the ministry and discussed a number of issues, among them the two-year post graduate diploma in mental health of the Programme.  Dr. El-Zanoon has formed a consultant group of professionals from the ministry and GCMHP to study the accreditation of the Diploma by the ministry.   The attendants also discussed a pilot project for training primary health care physicians about prevention and treatment of depression (PTD) which will be applied in four Arab countries including Palestine, Tunisia, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.  Dr. El-Zanoon and Dr. El-Sarraj also discussed the five-year national plan for mental health in Palestine.  At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to continue cooperation and coordination.
