On 29 June 1999, a group of British MPs from the ruling Labor Party visited GCMHP. The delegation consisted of Mr. Ernie Ross (MP), President; Mr. Laurence Quinn (MP); Mr. Brian Jenkins (MP); Mr. David Lock (MP); Ms. Bridget Glichrist, Director of the Labor Middle East Council, and Mr. Gerald Russell from the British Consulate in Jerusalem. The visit was part of their tour in Palestine coordinated by the Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy (MIFTAH) in Ramallah.
The guests met Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj, the President of the Board of Directors,
who talked to them about the general psychosocial situation in the Gaza
Strip and Palestine and the problems facing the Palestinian people as a
result of the violations of their human rights. The delegation expressed
their support of the Palestinian people and the peace process. They
also stressed the importance of Palestinian adherence to the principles
of human rights as a condition towards the continuation of aid to the Palestinian
people.
