On 19 October, an Australian delegation headed by Sir Ronald Wilson,
a retired judge and Head of the Australian Council for Overseas Aid, visited
the Gaza Community Mental Health Program. The guest met Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj,
Director, and Mr. Husam El-Nounou, PR Coordinator. Dr. El-Sarraj gave the
visitors an overview of GCMHP activities and the different projects serving
the Gaza population. In addition, he put the guest in light of the various
psychosocial problems affecting the Palestinians as a result of the events
of recent Palestinian history and the Israeli violations of Palestinian
rights. Moreover, Dr. El-Sarraj answered questions on the daily life of
Palestinians and the hardships they currently face. Finally, the visiting
delegation toured the Program to get a first hand look at the activities
of GCMHP and its different departments and projects.
