A Winter Walk
By Bob Cork..1964

She watches the river round a bend,
swiftly moving, absorbing the snow.
She's laughing at the calm bayou,
covered by a sheet of ice,
a playground for the
blowing wind and snow.

Mallards are nestled among the reeds,
lonely and black against the snow.
As still as decoys but she knows
that feathers harbor vibrant life,
shivering from the
blowing wind and snow.

The black barren trees and darkened sky,
illuminated by the snow.
But warmest, brightest is the glow
from my daughter's sparkling eyes,
enchanted by the
blowing wind and snow.
