Jerusalem Bloc Cartoons

Below is a selection of Jerusalem Bloc cartoons. The Jerusalem Bloc is considered the main rival to the Islamic bloc (the majority in the Student Council has alternated between these two blocs over the past 5 years) and naturally their cartoons focus on the Islamic Bloc. The cartoons represent the Islamic bloc as not having achieved anything for students and being more concerned with opposing the Jerusalem Bloc. The cartoons also represent the Jerusalem Bloc as the "middle road" and the voice of pragmatism. Their campaign has also focused on the traditional role of Fatah in the Palestinian struggle.

The sign on the desk reads: Student Council.
The student is saying, "No dorms...no classes..financially its rubbish"
[the Islamic Bloc currently hold a majority in the Student Council]

"Don't run from death because it knows its way to you. Yet, when it takes us by force it is a door to immortality, there's no way out when destiny chooses us for Palestine."

"I've been against all the priests of Nasserism, Monarchy, the Islamic brothers and the left parties. Yet, it is enough for me that Palestine was always with me, that I always heard its voice... So who, for God's sake, is more worthy of the victory? Us, or those who walk without thinking in the paths of left or right?"
The signs read: Left, right and state

"A thousand nos to participating in the elections of the unbelievers and compromisers:
The box on the right shows votes going to the Israelis

The man [representing the Islamic bloc] is dreaming of the student council

"I would tell you how many books were burnt by the Monghols, how many believers were smashed under the hooves of horses but, I say, who will prevent the word from reaching? Who would prevent our arrival?"

[from right]"What do you think of raising the tuition fees?"
"I don't know but the Jerusalem Bloc is no good"
"What do you intend to do if you win?"
"I don't know but the Jerusalem Bloc is no good"
"What would you talk about if the jerusalem Bloc wasn't there"
"I don't know but the Jerusalem Bloc is no good"

The heads are saying
"I am with peace and with the PA, but not with the Jerusalem Bloc",
"I am with peace and against the PA, but the Jerusalem Bloc is no good"
"I am against peace and against the PA, but the Jerusalem Bloc is no good"

"When I see its name my eyes are blinded... when i write its name the paper ignites...when i mention it my tongue burns...when i keep it inside i choke... to carry Iraq is a difficult mission!"
