To get to Angelo's walk down Main Street, one of the six streets radiating from the Manara which marks the centre of town, amusingly enough this street is often referred to as the Street with Angelo's on it. Walk past Rukab's Ice-Cream, then the European Bakery and take the fourth turning on your left. Tucked away on the corner, Angelo's faces away from the hustle and bustle of this busy shopping area and onto the quieter back streets and a hill leading down to a residential area of Ramallah and the Friends' Girls' School. Today Angelo's has a quiet and cosy atmosphere attracting families, groups of friends and many of Ramallah's international residents.
Still making pizzas, you can sit at your table and watch the chefs fling the dough in the air to stretch it and then bake them in the oven which has become the restaurant's logo. As well as pizza the menu offers a good range of other dishes including musakhan, baked sandwiches, steaks, salads and a range of tastey pies. There are several vegetarian options including vegetarian lasagne and soups. The restaurant also does take-away orders.
The garlic bread with cheese, made on sliced baggette and baked in that same old Angelo's oven, comes out crisp but moist and practically melts in your mouth.
Baked sandwiches come in a baggette style roll with chips, and are tasty, filling and economical especially recommended is the chicken and cheese variety.
The chicken pie comes with raisons and almonds, the pastry is golden brown, and the chicken is succulent.
The Angelo's Salad is a good side order, topped with black olives and grated cheese.
