Ten Years in Mud is the title of Sliman Mansour’s latest exhibit which opened on April 4, 2001 in celebration and commemoration of Land Day. The exhibit, organized by the Founding Committee for the Development of Cultural Heritage (FCDCH) at Birzeit University, is being hosted at Al-Qamariah Art Gallery in the Diana Tamari Sabbagh Center at Birzeit University.
The unique exhibition is comprised of specially selected works in mud and clay created by Mansour during the last ten years. At the opening Mansour stated that “I started working with clay during the first Intifadah in 1987, and I remembered how my grandmother and other village women used to make objects from clay to use at home.” The artist went on to explain how his works represent the relationship between people and the earth, the history and culture.
Mansour was born in Birzeit, and has received several awards for his work over the past two decades.
The exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until April 21, 2001, except Fridays and Sundays.
