Tayseer Barakat’s new exhibition

Legend and Fire, is Tayseer Barakat’s new exhibition which was inaugurated on May 2, 2001 at the Al-Qamariah Art Gallery in the Diana Tamari Sabbagh Center at Birzeit University. Vera Tamari, exhibition curator and chairperson of the Founding Committee for the Development of Cultural Heritage (FCDCH), introduced Barakat and talked about the series of exhibitions to be taking place at the Gallery this year.

According to Barakat, the works in his exhibition, Legend and Fire, represent the beginnings of life, of fire and wood. His works incorporate themes inspired by ancient civilizations: literature, scripts, symbols and early poems of love.

Those who attended the opening inlcuded professors, staff members and students from the different faculties at the University.

This is the second exhibition to be sponsored by the FCDCH at the Al-Qamariah Art Gallery . The first exhibition, Ten Years in Mud for Palestinian artist Sliman Mansour, was hosted at the Gallery from April 4 to April 21, 2001 and was viewed by hundreds of visitors.

The Committee invites you to visit Tayseer Barakat’s exhibition which will continue until May 31, 2001 daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., except Fridays and Sundays.
