Birzeit University Receives Cisco Award 6 October 2001
Marwan Tarazi, Director of the Birzeit University Information Technology Unit, who received the award said: “the success of this award was a result of the team work and effort of everyone that was involved. I believe that this has been one of the most successful collaborative efforts that I have experienced during my work in Palestine. I really hope that we will be able to jointly pull off more of these successes in the future.” The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a partnership between Cisco Systems, education, business, government, and community organizations around the world. The Networking Academy curriculum centers on teaching students to design, build, and maintain computer networks. Last August, Birzeit University, sponsored by the Welfare Association, finished the Cisco Networking Training Program for 10 local academies (CCNA Track) in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and was able to launch e-learning using Cisco's web-based training material, with video conferencing to connect Birzeit University with the students in the Gaza Strip.
