Secretary General of Amnesty International visits Birzeit University

A delegation from Amnesty International, headed by its Secretary General, Mr. Pierre Sané, visited Birzeit University on March 27, and met with Dr. Hanna Nasir, President of the University, and other officials, to hear their points of view on the recent Israeli military harassments and the measures taken by the University to ensure that the educational process continues unimpeded.

The delegation also met with members from the Media Institute and the Law Center, students from the Democracy and Human Rights Program in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and representatives of human rights organizations in Palestine. The latter talked about the current status of the human rights organizations and the relationship with their international counterparts in order to clarify the human rights violations in Palestine. They also talked about the challenges these organizations are facing in revealing the human rights violations carried out by Israel, and explained how the Israeli government is practicing a form of apartheid in Palestine.
