House Demolitions since 30 July 1997
Totals:
West Bank: 22 homes demolished
Jerusalem: 10 homes (2 unconfirmed)
Estimated total of displaced persons as a result of demolitions: 125
West Bank: 76
Jerusalem: 49
** All these homes were demolished for having no building permits, permits which are difficult or impossible to obtain. The actual political intent of demolishing Palestinian homes is always to restrict natural growth of Palestinian communities, and often because they lie in the path of a settler by-pass road or for lying near the illegal Jewish settlements of Jerusalem and the West Bank.
