GENERAL DIRECTOR OF LAWE MEETS WITH PRESIDENT ARAFAT

HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION DISCUSSED

On 30 August Advocate Khader Shkirat, General Director of LAWE - The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment met with President Yassir Arafat to discuss the current human rights situation and how to ensure their protection.

It was agreed to hold another meeting in the near future to discuss possible mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and how to strengthen democratic practices in Palestine.

LAWE - The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment is a non-governmental organization, dedicated to preserving human rights through legal advocacy. LAWE is also an affiliate member of the Paris-based International Federation for Human Rights.
