GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY - A reception to mark the start of construction of the new Law Center Building was held on December 5th, 1995. The new 1,200 square metre building, funded by the French and Qatari governments, is set to be completed in the spring of 1997, and will contain a library and documentation service (catalogue, shelves, reading room, computer room), offices for the research, teaching and administrative people, meeting and teaching rooms.
VISIT BY THE QATARI MINISTER OF JUSTICE
AND DELEGATION - The Law Center welcomed Dr. Najib Nu'aimi, the
Qatari Minister of Justice, and an official delegation from Qatar,
in May 1996. The Minister came on behalf of His Highness Sheik
Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar who has generously supported
the Center by providing funding towards the construction of a
second floor for the new Law Center building, a professorship
in international law, and international law materials for the
library.
