The Palestinian Society for Mathematical
Sciences (PSMS) and the Department
of Mathematics at Birzeit University (BZU)
are organizing the 2nd Palestinian International Conference on Mathematics
to be held August 19-22, 1998 at BZU.

Pure Mathematics.

Statistics.
-
Mathematics Education and Curriculum
Developments.
Call For Papers:
A person wishing to present a paper
in the conference may send a full length paper or a single page
abstract together with the attached registration form to the organizing
committee no later than June 1,1998. You can either e-mail or use
the regular mail to send the abstract and the registration form. Papers
reporting original and unpublished research results are solicited. Accepted
papers will be published in the conference proceedings. More details about
this will be provided during the conference.

Conference Site:
The conference will be held at BZU
located in the town of Birzeit, which is about 20 miles north of Jerusalem,
and about 4 miles north of Ramallah. BZU has one of the most modern and
beautiful campuses in the region. The department of mathematics has spacious
class rooms and an auditorium with capacity of around 350. It has
various computer labs. The department offers fax, e-mail and secretarial
support. Food facilities are available on campus. In addition, local
arrangements have been made for a reception and banquet
at the beginning and the end of the conference. Lodging facilities are
available in Ramallah, which is about 4 miles from the BZU campus. Arrangements
have been made to give special rates for the participants with the following
hotels:

$100 for single rooms (SR) and $117 for double rooms (DR).

$50 (SR) and $70 (DR) .

(SR) and $45 (DR).
Transportation will be available
from and to the conference. Public transportation is available at
a reasonable rate. The local arrangement committee will make
arrangements with the hotels to provide transportation
to the BZU campus. In addition, car rental is available through most American
car rental companies' offices in Jerusalem. Special tours have been prepared
for participants to Jericho and the Dead Sea.
Registration fee:
The registration fee is $100.00 for
non members and free for students. This fee includes the conference program,
abstract, refreshments, session attendance, banquet, social events, and
membership into the PSMS.

or money orders payable to Birzeit University.
