A delegation representing French municipalities visited Birzeit University today on the first day of a tour to show solidarity with Palestinians, in particular, Palestinian refugees.

Discussions with students and the French delegation

The twenty-seven member delegation represented the municipalities of Pierrefitte, Montataire, Saint Lizier, Sport, Chambly, Saint Denis, St Paul, ville de Stains, Chambly, ville de Sete and ville de S Leu d'Esserent. All of these municipalities have twinning agreements with Palestinian refugee camps including Kalandia, Dheisheh, Beit Jibrin, Jalazon, Shatti, Al Amari, Al imaghazi and Deir Al Balah camps.

The delegation was addressed by Albert Aghazarian from the Public Relations Office at Birzeit who spoke on the current situation in Palestine. They then toured the campus and met with students who discussed ways in which the French people could offer solidarity with the Palestinian people.
