Birzeit university awarded Mr. Haseeb Sabbagh an honororary doctorate in Administrative Science in appreciation of his
contribution in building Palestinian public institutions. The
award also commemorates his generous support to Birzeit University where he recently donated a generous contribution to build the Diana Sabbagh Tamari Center for Fine Arts, Applied Arts and National Heritage, named after his wife Diana Tamari
Sabbagh.

Today's ceremonies were attended by several members of the Palestinian Authority, academics and local businesspeople.
In his opening speech, Birzeit University President Dr. Hanna Nasir expressed
his pleasure in honoring Mr. Sabagh for his significant role in developing
the Arab community in general, and Palestinian society in
particular. He also commended his active participation in the Palestinian struggle
and his continued support to Birzeit University. Mr. Sabbagh
is an honororary member of the Board of Trustees of Birzeit University. 
Dr. Nasir also discussed the new center opened today that aims to promote cultural issues in the Palestinian community. He expressed his hope that the center will help develop Palestinian art and national heritage
Dr. Darwish Nazzal, chairman of the Board of Trustees presented the honorary degree in administrative science to Mr. Sabbagh and a special reception was held following the ceremony.
