The city of AL-BIREH on the middle series of mountains, 15 kilometers north of jerusalem, and it is 860 meters above the sea level, Its area is 24.500 donums. Its name means "WATER WELLS" due to the existence of many water wells and springs. The name was given to it in the year 3500 BC. Located in the center of Palestine, AL-BIREH served as a service between the north and the south. Throughout history, AL-BIREH was the center for all caravans traveling from Jerusalem to Nablus. For almost six thousand years, AL-BIREH was the strategic location armies used to camp and rest, the great leader Salah El-Deen camped in AL-BIREH before he liberated Jerusalem from the Crusaders, stories tell us that Jesus passed through AL-BIREH with his mother when He was a child.
