| The Ramallah American Club of Jacksonville, Florida was
founded in 1953 when 52 Arab American men of Ramallah, Palestine chartered the club as a social, cultural, and charitable organization. Without a building to call their own, club members began to meet in the old Salaam Club which is the Syrian American Club of Jacksonville. With the help of the late Ziadeh A. Bateh, the club purchased its first facility in 1959 on Atlantic Blvd. This unpretentious house located on what was rural road became the first place we could call home. In 1962 a club hall was created at the rear of the house with additional land purchased in 1963 at the same location. This completed the physical plan of the original club. As the years progressed, the membership outgrew the original club so in 1975 five acres of land were purchased on Parental Home Road for the site of a new facility. In 1976 the club sold its old home and soon thereafter construction began at our new location. On October 29, 1977 the new club was opened and dedicated. The club membership has grown from its
