encourage all of us to write letters to oprah as the show is
looking for guests who have stories of immigration to the U.S.
and stories about family and friends living in in worn torn
regions. Two different shows. they are also looking for 20
somethings that have been positively or negatively affected by
9-11. I wrote one letter and hope to write more, please write a
letter and encourage your family and friends to do so too. This
is a great opportunity to make our voices heard ! grace and
peace, rana

Please Call Republican Mr. Dana Rohrabacher whom on a live
television stated that Israeli state sponsored terrorism is the
same as suicide bombings at Israeli Pizza Parlors and night
clubs!! His insisted that we cannot have a double standard with
Israel and expect to be taken seriously!! This is a strong
statement which was against what all other speakers where saying
on the program. The show was on this past Thursday and it is
imperative that we call and say T H A N K Y O U ! His # is:

The courageous Palestinian people are justifiably fighting
the yahood who occupy their land. I don't only blame Sharon and

With the world focused on the bombings in Afghanistan,
Israel has been able to get away with using excessive acts of
terror and aggression against the Palestinian civilians in the
West Bank and Gaza, and no one is hearing the Palestinians who
cry for help. Innocent and unarmed men women and children are
being killed for no reason. The world is staying quiet, how long
can this go on? Why do we as Arabs allow this to happen? My heart
aches over the loss of innocent life, these people have already
been robbed of their land and their identity, what are the
Israelis trying to kill them off? It was reported that 21
Palestinians died today in one of the bloodiest days since the
start of the Intifada, we need to demand an end to this. Enough
is enough already! What can we do to make a difference? I feel
like I, that we, as Arab Americans need to do something to try to
change things, does anyone have any suggestions? There must be
something that we can do to help bring awareness to our cause.
Most Americans dont know what is taking place back home due to
the fact that the media here is totally biased. We need to raise
awareness. May God bring peace to the Middle East, INSHALLAH.

Marhaba everyone, I would like to make a suggestion
regarding the very large Arab Community living in America. If you
face harassment or unjustified "questioning" by local,
state, or federal authorities, please contact the national
Arab-American organizations immediately (ADC or AAI). Their
websites are AAIUSA.com and ADC.org. We need to have a mechanism
in place so that innocent Arabs who live here are not treated
negatively or harassed. I also reccomend that we respond to this
behavior by explaining the facts, politics, and history or the
Middle East as well as US policy towards the Middle East. Once
the average American hears "the other side" of this
very sad story will they begin to understand and question their
own government. The bottom line is that we Arab-Americans living
here have an obligation to educate our fellow Americans on the
facts and reasons for this tragic event last week. The best
solution for this war (as Bush puts it) is to be unbiased and
fair to both sides in the Middle East. Unfortunately, that has
not occured in the last 53 years. Just look at our policies and
actions towards the courageous Palestinian civilians for the last
year and then people will start to understand the underlying
problem and solution. LONG LIVE PALESTINE AND LONG LIVE THE ARAB
WORLD!!!

Last sunday marked the 19 year anniversary of the massacre
of innocent Palestinian refugees in the Beirut refugee camps of
Sabra and Shatila. I remember seeing the images as a little girl
when this first happened, but since then, I am ashamed to admit,
like most Palestinians, I blocked the horror the took place, I
forgot just how bad this massacre really was. I cant blame
anyone, after all this event was never a commemorated event like
other historic atrocities. The media should commemorate it every
year of the anniversaries. I did see it though last sunday night,
the night of the anniversary on my mom's arabic satellite dish. I
cried when I saw all the little children butchered to death with
knives, men were shot execution style, women were raped
repeatedly, pregnant women were found disemboweled. This was a
methodical massacre, it took place over 36 hours and left about
5,000 people dead. How could this have happened? Ariel Sharon was
responsible, he could have stopped this massacre. Instead he
ordered his men to block off the camps, when several hundred
people tried to flee the camps, he ordered his men to bring them
back in to face their destiny. Please, I encourage all
Palestinians not to forget these victims. The Palestinians who
live as refugees, especially in Lebanon have no protection, no
rights. The phalangist practice atrocities against them simply
because they are Palestinians and seen as a nuisance to their
country. I encourage you, got to the Sabra and Shatila website
and look at the pictures. Read some of the stories. Sharon has
referred to President Arafat as the "Palestinian Osama Bin
Laden", well the massacres in Beirut indicate to me that
Ariel Sharon is the true BUTCHER of the middle east, the world
for that matter. I pray that one day he will be held accountable
for what he did. INSHALLAH.

As an American, I am amazed how we allowed this tragedy to
happen. We were simply humiliated due to our poor intelligence
system. What happened to all the billions of dollars we spend on
missile defense systems? We could not protect and safeguard the
Pentagon! What a disgrace to every American, were our own
Government could not protect us from such an atrocity. If I were
George W. Bush, I would cleanup our act by firing all who were
responsible and then declare war on terrorism.

as much as we regret the innocent dead and injured, there
is a lot to be explained still and the accusations against
afghanistan and osama are as jet unfounded and just a way to
cover up for the unbelievable lack of intelligence capability of
the giant u.s.a. that was brought down by david, a repeat of the
old story, because it looks like the zionists are more involved
then the arabs themselves. nevertheless it shows, that it hurts
when friends, family and relatives are bleeding, as are the
palestinians since so many years, with america stopping important
u.n. resolutions to be put through because of the pressure from
their moneyproviders, the jews in thŽir midst. let this be a

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the inocent victims of
this terrible attack. But I can not help that maybe of the United
States had been more even handed and fair in thier appraoch in
dealing with the Middle East problem, this wouldn't be happening
. How many times did the U. S. allow Israel to commit atrocites
such as the Beiruit massacre, the Al Asqua mosque incicdent and
many more . Ted Koppel said it best It seems these people are
angry about some injustice they don't have an army,or navy and
this is how they show it . I agree. The United States is now
being held accountable for thier foriegn policy. I don't condone
this attack it is wrong, But there is an underlying cause and
that is the Middle east conflict

I would like to begin by offering my thoughts and prayers
to the people of New York City and to the Nation as a whole. I
have not been able to read all of the entries made on this site
since the terrible attack on the United States, but from what I
gathered, I would like to say a few things. To "Angry Arab
American", I give you credit for having the guts to voice
and defend your opinion, but I think that it is finally time for
you to open your eyes. What you have been seeing on the news on a
daily basis is very tragic and what makes it worse is that it
happened here, here where we live. We go around talking about
Palestine and visiting the country, but when it comes to an
Israeli/Palestinian outbreak of violence, all of a sudden, you
hear of no American-Arab (except for very very few) going to
visit Palestine. We would rather stay in our safe haven, the
United States, where if we wanted to see Palestine we turn on CNN
or any Arab satalite and watch the events. Now the tragic scenes
are coming from New York and for many of us it is very hard for
us to handle, but for others, they look at the events and say
that the coin has finally turned and American is on the receiving
side of the attacks. So "Angry Arab American" it is
tragic that you felt what the Palestinian people, your "Arab
heritage" has been feeling since 1948 and we have had many
many many more casualties. On a second note, I have also heard
and read that the footage of the Palestinians celebrating was
recorded in 1991, but there have been people who heard the little
children on the footage sing the song "Wein Wein Wein, Al
Shaab al Arabi Wein". That song is not 10 years old. It is
quite recent. My opinion on the matter is that the footage was
taken before that attack and shown later. For the person who said
that they don't believe that CNN would ruin their credibility by
showing false footage, the fact of the matter is that CNN has
ruined their credibility long before this event. There have been
numerous accounts of Anti-Arab propoganda on CNN. CNN is not a
reliable source for news. HAVE YOU ALL NOTICED: Has anyone
noticed what a coincidence it is that this very very tragic event
occured just as the world began to soften up to the Palestinians
and their cause? DON' YOU THINK: In all honesty, don't you think
that if the United States was 100% sure that Bin Laden is
responsible for the attack, don't you think that they would have
attacked him or Afganistan by now. There is something else going
on that we don't know about. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that it
was reported that some people made a bet 1,000,000(plus) on the
stock market approx one week before the attack that airline
stocks would plumit into the ground? Coincidence, I don't know.
DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that it was said that of the 4,000
Jews that work in the world trade center, over 3,500 of them did
not show up to work on Tuesday, they weren't even on their way to
work. Coincidence, I don't know. There is something else,
something much bigger than Bin Laden going on here. Will we ever
know what it is, probably not, but when the US gov finds out what
it is and realizes that they can't tell the American public, they
will cover it up by bombing Afganistan or having some trial, and
that will be the end of it.

in a cowardly way. If you really are so proud sign your name to

I was so infuriated by the comments made by miss
"angry arab american". What, do you think arabs in this
country support the terrorist bombings that took place? Do you
think that you have more love for this country then the rest of
the arab americans? You seem very aggressive in your willingness
to defend this country, maybe you should stop and think about
your fellow Palestinians who die back home every single
day.Children are shot in the heads for defending our right to a
homeland. Maybe you should apply some of this zest that you have
for america to your own homeland as well. The anniversay of the
massacres that took place in the Sabra and Shatila camps just
passed up, and I didnt even see anyone even recognizing it. We,
as a Palestinian community should have commemorated the victims.
Thousands of innocent and unarmed men, women and children were
murdered at the hands of the Israeli's, is that not considered
terrorism to you? Go to the sabra and shatila website and see the
atrocities practiced on your own people. Stop acting like your
the only one who cares, the entire arab community was affected by
what took place last week. The people dancing in the streets back
home represented a minority. Channel 7 aired thousands of
Palestinian children back home holding a vigil for the victims.
So despite what you think, your not the only one who cares. GET A
GRIP!

This is in response to the Angry Arab American. This
website is designed for educated Ramallah family to voice their
opinions. This website is not designed for uneducated children
who complained about the Arabs dancing in the streets. If you
were educated, you would know that that video was put together
falsely and used to once again show racism against the
Palestinians. Wake up and realize that we are at war and that we
need to pray to God everyday that HE will keep us safe in HIS
care and also pray that this horrible evil will be over soon!

I'm sorry but I have to make another entry. What I just
read about the footage of the Palestinians celebrating has me
very confused and appalled. If this really is true, then
something must be done. However, the part that confuses me about
all of this is Hanan Ashrawi and King Abdullah both have said
they were isolated cases and not a reflection of all
Palestinians. So by them saying this, it makes it sound as though
those celebrations did take place... ?? Please just let me know
whatever information you may have about that footage. Thanks
again!

It has been a long time since I've visited the Guestbook
and unfortunately cannot read through all of these entries. So I
apologize if the information I'm requesting already exists here.
I am interested in finding out specifically how we know that
footage of Palestinians celebrating was from 1991. Please provide
me ALL the information you may have. Thanks and GOD BLESS US
ALL!!!

Just to comment on the accusation that CNN reused
footage...There is only a 7 hour time difference between
Palestine and the East Coast of the US. The attack came around
9am, therefore the scenes would have been taken in the afternoon.
I HIGHLY doubt that CNN would endanger their credibility by
reusing footage from 10 years ago. Remember, don't believe
everything you hear.

ABOUT THE PALESTINIANS CELEBRATING...................That
footage was from 1991. Sadly, the Palestinians were celebrating
the invasion of Kuwait!!!! The older women has passed away since
then & the dancing boy is married with kids. A Brazilian TV
station with the same footage has been disseminating this info
and complaining to CNN for their careless offense on public
opinion. THEY ARE NO LONGER SHOWING IT!!!! BUT THE DAMAGE IS
DONE! Despite this, it was tasteless to repeatedly show people
celebrating the deaths of innocent people! ESPECIALLY WHEN IT WAS
FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is in response to the Angry Arab American.
Please...think before you write and speak and grow up! This
website is not for immature, uneducated children. This website
was developed for sincere educated thoughts. If you were
educated, you would know that those kids were not singing and
dancing and throwing candy in the streets. They were mourning and
still mourning just like America was and still is. Let us all
focus on the real issue. Terrorism has hit America once again and
we, law abiding good hearted Arab Americans, are being blamed for
it. We have got to back our leadership and pray to God that
terrorism and the people that assisted in this attack be
erradicated.

I agree with C.L.M from San Fran. I have heard nonstop
discussions about the Palestinains celebrating in the streets
& how that has become a bigger issue than the thousands
Americans this past week. It is understandable the level of
disrespect in celebrating or some Palestinians who may not be
very sympathetic at a time like this, but at the same time...
what we experienced last week in America... is what Palestinians
back home experience every day of their life under Israeli
occupation. Unfortunatly, people are still not aware how
inaccurate & old that footage is, because that isnt there
concern anymore. They displayed the coverage they wanted to...
but when it comes time for the truth that hurts, they dont have
time for it... especially when the media is run by yahood. There
is no justification for any acts of violence, terrorism or joyful
celebrating when events like that occur. So before everyone
points fingers on who to blame who for what... lets concentrate
on the real issue here!!

this one will. This is in response to "The Angry Arab
American, from Cleveland" I am very happy that you will
fight for "YOUR" counry no matter what, but we will
also fight for OUR counrty, Phalasteen! And kids were not
parading around being happy and celebrating, those picture you
saw were from 1991, during the invasion of Kuwait. I take it you
did not see the real picture that was taken on Tuesday in
Ramallah, of the kids standing in the streets hold a sign that
reads "Our condolences and Sympathy go out to all of the
victims in this terrorist attack). And I am curious to know why
someone would even put this entry on this site, for the view of
others. There is no excuse what happened in New York and it's
very sad, but our people are dying everyday. No innocent people
should die regardless. So you continue supporting your country,
and the rest of us will find it in our hearts to support both!

There is a very infamous video clip that was
being shown in the hours after the 4 plane crashes on U.S. soil.
It showed images of Palestinians, namely some women and children,
dancing in the streets apparently celebrating the terrorist
attacks against the U.S. That exact video clip was not from last
week, it was actually from 10 years ago. It was a clip of
Palestinians celebrating when Iraq invaded Kuwait. This is pretty
sad, yet at the same time it is interesting. Anyone watch the
movie "Wag the Dog"? Also, whats pretty obvious about
the video clip is that the celebration is occurring in broad day
light. Apparently the news media forgot that the middle east is
about 10 hours ahead of us. So given a short amount time for the
news to travel to the middle east, they would have gotten this
information roughly 8 p.m local time. Since they are closer to
the equator than the U.S. is, it should have been completely dark
by then-- not bright like midday.

It's been a week since this horrific event took place. And,
like everyone who watched the events unfold, I was in shock and
disbelief that this was actually taking place. One of the things
that really disturbs me, is the constant replay of the young
Palestinian children shouting and celebrating in the streets. The
media and government officials talk about the backlash to the
Arab community, but how is showing this clip over and over again
going to help people understand that not ALL of us are
celebrating this devastation? Isn't this 'adding fuel to the
fire' so to speak? How is this going to prevent other fanatics
from lashing out at a person who MAY look like he/she is of
Middle Eastern descent?? The devastation has affected us all, no
matter where you come from, what you look like and what your
religious beliefs are. We emigrated to the US from Ramallah, in
the late 60's and I remember the hatred and discrimination I was
subjected to in those days. As a child, I didn't know what I had
done to be trigger to this kind of treatment from other children
as well as adults. It wasn't until I was much older and the topic
of ignorance, racism and discrimination came up, that I could put
a name to what I had encountered as a child. I don't want any of
our young children to feel what I felt. Unfortunately, our
children will feel a backlash because of media clips such as
this, not to mention the ignorance that some people harbor. Of
course, we can't help but pray for the victims of NYC and DC,
their families and friends, just as we pray that our President
will act with wisdom and do what's right for our country and most
importantly, pray for humanity. 'If we have no peace, it is

This is my response to the ignorant, uneducated question
that Tim Russert from CNN stated last night. I thought you all
may be interested. To Whom It May Concern: I am a Palestinian
American that is heartbroken over the attack on Tuesday,
September 11th. I would like to say how proud I am of President
Bush and the leadership in the Senate and Congress and how they
have handled themselves. I am sick to my stomach over what
happened and I pray that God keeps us all, especially New York
and Washington DC, in HIS care. I pray everyday that HE helps the
victims and helps the healing process. My friends and I were
watching Tim Russert last night at approximately 10:45PM EST and
the first thing he asked was "Why do those people with the
olive branches hate us so much?" I was appalled and
disgusted. First of all, "those people" as he put is
are just as upset over this as the United States. "Those
people" had nothing to do with this attack. The prime
suspect is an Extremist Muslim terrorist who doesn't even believe
in Jesus Christ. Saudi Arabia denounced his citizenship and
banished him from their country. The only country that will house
him is Afghanistan. The prejudice against the Arab Americans in
the Media world is sickening and immoral. Before Mr. Russert says
another discriminating word, he needs to stop and think as to how
it affects people. Also, the tape of the Arabs overseas
celebrating the attack that has been replayed over and over again
doesn't even exist. The immoral reporter that continues to play
this obtained those excerpts from another celebration that had
nothing to do with this attack. We, the Arab Americans, deserve
an apology from Mr. Russert. He has lost my respect as well as my
friends and family's respect. He has lost respect of my friends
who are of Spanish dissent and Italian dissent. He has no
business being in the media; therefore, we will no longer give
him the time or respect of watching him or listening to him as he
gave us no respect. Mr. Russert, you are a disgrace to your
profession.

This statement is in response to the prejudice, uneducated
comments made my Tim Russert last night on CNN at 10:45PM EST. I
thought you all may be interested in the senseless, racism
against the Arab Americans. I do understand that we certainly are
not all perfect and at these times of uncertainty, trials and
days filled with no sleep and anguish, we can all make mistakes.
However, people of the media have a duty to be unbiased and
report the truth but, in a tactful and inoffensive manner. Mr.
Russert has failed miserably. I feel it is my duty and am
compelled to point out a comment made by Tim Russert's interview
last night (Saturday, Sept. 15) where he practically began his
interview and commentary with a statement containing "What
are these people with the olive trees doing to us"? That is
nothing but a biased and racist comment which applies to a group
of people living in a community. I would make the suggestion to
Mr. Russert that he refer to the people who are tormenting and
terrorizing our community as "terrorist"and not
generalize a whole, huge community. He just might as well
referred to our enemies as rag heads, or sand rats, or other
disgusting slur. I for one will not watch anything that he is
involved with, nor will the house full of people I had here at
the time. He has lost all credibility with me and many of my
neighbors. I have had calls from people who saw his show and
called me in disbelief, people of Spanish heritage, Arab
heritage, Polish heritage, Korean heritage and African Americans,
as well as Americans. I am appalled.

This just in!!!! Apparently CNN re-used footage of
Palestinians cheering in the streets that occurred during the
Persian Gulf War in 1991, and used that for the tragedy that took
place this week!!!! Of course, all the other news organizations
used that footage too. If you notice that piece of video, it is
blurry and looks old. I can't believe how evil they are to do
this--we must start a campaign and spread the word--this is
RIDICULOUS!!! Also, call CNN and demand an apology. They may have
gotten away with this a decade ago--but they won't get away with

To all those who have loved ones that were lost in this
horrific tragedy, my heart goes out to you. I pray for all
Americans that lost their families in these awful attacks. As
usual, the American media and the Israeli government is using
this opportunity to take stabs at the Palestinian people. We must
be strong in these times and educate the public that the
Palestinians do not support such terrorist acts. I was in
disbelief when they blamed the Palestinians. If we were capable
of such an attack on America, then why would be suffer the
brutality under israeli occupation for half a century???
Palestinians are homeless, starving, and poor, and don't have the
energy to defend themselves against Israeli ammunition, let alone
launch a full attack on the US. Please educate people about this
when you hear them blame Palestinians. We have to let America
know that a an extremely tiny fraction of the Arab world are
terrorists, just like a tiny fraction of Anmerica is involved in
the KKK and the skinheads. Every country has their terrorists.
Also, educate people that this is exactly how Israel treats the
Palestinians on a daily basis by bombing their homes and
infrastructure. the Israeli's commit these acts on occuppied
Palestinian land, and the Palestinians have to defend themselves.
The Palestinians do not launch attacks on the Knesset or Israeli
organizations. We must educate if we feel victimized, and at the
same time help those who need it in America in this time of utter
mourning.... desert diva

I can only imagine how each person felt about the
unbelievable events occurring all over the United States today.
Waking up to a beautiful September morning in Chicago you don't
expect to hear of such tragic events. At 9:30 am in the morning,
my class session began and we took a moment of silence for all
the Americans who lost loved ones. As we began to disuss this
tragedy, an almost instant reaction of a classmate shouted
"it's a Palestinian attack." I was quick to remind the
entire class of incorrectly stereotyping Palestinians as
terrorists, such as they did with the Oklahoma City bombing years
ago, and they quickly apologized for any offensive comments made.
To my surprise, after defending against Palestinian
discrimination, I watch Palestinian children in the West Bank and
the Gaza Strip on national television celebrating this horrific
time in American history. Is this what all the years of war has
resulted in, the upbringing of Palestinians in the blad
encouraging their children to enjoy death of others? To allow the
children of our future support hatred in their hearts? I don't
understand why Palestinian children acted this way, but I have
not lived through what they have. This day should be a wake-up
call for all Palestinians and Jewish people world wide to stop
the fighting and resolve their problems in other ways or the
destruction of the world will begin.

Im sure everyone has been informed of the worst attack on
America in over a half of a century. People are terrified, many
injured, no one knows what to think or do... as this could lead
into a World War 3! They say this is worse than Pearl Harbor and
will lead into a World War... there just not sure with WHO
America will be at war with. As we are all aware, us Arab are the
first suspects of such terrorist acts. The date of the attack may
have significance because on September 11, 1978, the first
historic Camp David accords were signed. In June, a U.S. judge
had set Wednesday, Sept. 12, as the sentencing date for an Osama
bin Laden associate for his role in the bombing of a U.S. embassy
in Tanzania that killed 213 people. The sentencing had been set
for the federal courthouse near the World Trade Center. No one
from the U.S. attorney's office could be reached Tuesday to
comment on whether the sentencing was still on. I think such a
world issue should be open for discussion, especially since it is
involving us Arab as the prime suspects...

Why is it that not ALL entries are entered on this site? I
entered a plea and suggestion to all my fellow Ramallahites and
it was IGNORED along with my request to afrp@afrp.com to please
enter my heart-felt posting. Can anyone possibly explain this to
me? Leila the Curious ....
