January & February 2002 Guest List

Marhaba everyone, as our people are courageously struggling for independence from the colonialist and imperialist Israeli foreigners, we as Palestinians and Arabs must continue to help them with financial aid and other assistance. Justice and morality are on our side and the entire world knows who is at fault and who the real victims have been for the last 53 years. Please visit the website: WWW.AL-AWDA.ORG/RAFAH_FUND.HTM to make a credit card donation to assist our people in winning their land back and making their lives better (after clicking to the website, go to the very bottom box which says "PayPal" to make your secure donation). Your help is desperately needed. Thank you very much everyone! LONG LIVE PALESTINE AND LONG LIVE THE WHOLE ARAB WORLD!!!

Match for Maha! This page is dedicated to providing information regarding the quest to find a bone marrow match for our friend Maha Khalaf. You are encouraged to send this link to anyone and everyone you know who may be willing to help. As many of you know, Maha has been undergoing treatment for T-Cell Lymphoma for the past 10 months. Her next stage of treatment is to undergo a bone marrow transplant. The purpose of a bone marrow transplant is to give high does chemotherapy to eliminate cancer cells from the body. In doing this, the patient's immune system is damaged through the destruction of healthy cells along with the cancer cells. After treatment, the patient is infused with the bone marrow of a donor and if sucessful, a new healthy immune system is created. Finding a bone marrow match is a large task. The chances of finding a match between two unrelated people is anywhere from 1 in 100 to 1 in 2 million depending on the genetic code of each patient. THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP!! The testing process is very simple. You will be asked to donate a small amount of blood, which is then tested to identify your tissue type. Once your tissue has been typed you will be added to a confidential national registry that doctors: search to find matches for sick patients. Maha:s best chances of finding a match are within the Palestinian community but everyone should be tested. Even if you don:t match Maha, you may get the opportunity to save someone else:s life! Once you are listed on the national registry, your results will be available to Maha:s doctor. If you are a match, for Maha or anyone else, you will be notified and called in for additional blood testing to determine if the match is close enough for a transplant to take place. Once you are identified as a match you are given the choice whether or not you wish to donate some of your bone marrow. If you do decide to become a donor, the marrow is collected from the back of the pelvic bones during a procedure which takes place under anesthesia and causes some discomfort for a few days. The National Marrow Donor Program and/or the recipients insurance covers the donor:s expenses. According to most donors, the few days of soreness they felt were a small price to pay for the chance to save someone:s life. Someone out there is a match for Maha and it may be you! Please take a few minutes of your time to find out if you can help her or any one of the millions of people affected by leukemia, lymphoma and other cancers. For more information on the donation process please visit http//:www.marrow.org If you are a member of Maha's family there are specific places and times that have been set up for you to donate in the San Francisco/Bay Area, and Houston area. Please see the sections below for information on where to go to be tested. If you live in areas other than these and would like to be tested please go here. FREE TESTING AT SATURN LOCATIONS NATIONWIDE FROM FEB 9TH-17TH!! BERKELEY, HAYWARD, STOCKTON, CA DRIVES IN FEBRUARY & MARCH!! The cost of the testing is $73 per person and through fundraisers, friends and family, we are funding the drive. If you would like to help by donating any amount or paying the cost of testing for yourself, we will be collecting donations at the drive. However, just your willingness to help would be greatly appreciated... so if you are unable to donate, please come and get tested anyway, we will gladly cover the cost. Not only was Sharon's comment uncalled for, it further demonstrates the fact that Sharon is indeed a war criminal and should face the legal consequences of his actions - it's a great springboard for contacting your Representative and Senator in calling for a UN inquiry into his role in the Sabra/Shatilla Massacres of '82 - what's more everyone should be signing the online petition referenced in this guestbook (UN Inquiry/Belgium) and expressing their support for the move to have him tried as a war criminal. As far as I am concerned Sharon's constant ramblings only help the Palestinian cause but only if those who support it react constructively. As a side note, that Online Petition is seriously lacking in Palestinian-American support - read it and sign it.

I was just wondering what you all thought of what Ariel Sharon said about Yasser Arafat in the past few days in regards to wishing he assasinated Arafat 20 years ago? As a Palestinian American, I don't think his comment was called for. Any one else have an opinion on this matter?

In light of all that is happening in the world - and especially in Palestine, I have found it incredibly important to educate myself as much as I can on the the history and the present of our much abused country. It is in my opinion that much of the media is biased to the Palestinian people - and that drives me crazy. It is so frustrating to see injustice - and wishing there was something you could do about it. Anyway - I was reading online today - and I came across an interesting article that I appreciated - and I thought I would pass it along. It gives one a small glimmer of hope for the humanity of people in war. Enjoy. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A50479-2002Jan28.html

Thanks to Richard for tracking the site indictsharon.net, the International Campaign for Justice for the Victims of Sabra and Shatila. I would like to add that the case brought in Belgium against the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, is based on his involvement in the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre. Here is some information on Israeli massacres, and more on the Sabra and Shatila masscare. Please note that the pictures are very graphic and disturbing.

LET'S STOP THOSE BULLDOZERS!!!!!!!!! What is the single most evil tool the israeli occupation army uses to destroy homes? You got it, it's those wretched bulldozers that give those COWARDS the ability to destroy Palestinian homes. Turns out those bulldozers of death are supplied by the Caterpillar Company, based in Peoria, Illinois. A campaign is now being launched to get the Caterpillar Company to condemn the illegal use of bulldozers it supplied. The Caterpillar Company is not insensitive to its image--they have public relations campaign emphasizing it's involvement in efforts to save rainforests. Well, it looks like they value those trees more than Palestinian lives. Let em know what you think!!!!!!! Tell em it's ILLEGAL to sell bulldozers to ILLEGAL OCUPPIERS! Please, send an email to: ATTN Head spokesman of Caterpillar & Media Rep. For Social Responsibility Benjamin Cordani cordani_benjamin_s@cat.com

As the war in Palestine escalates and we must not sit back and watch disturbing footage of our hometown and people being destroyed. I realize at times it is dificult to stand up against the injustices. We as Palestinians are afraid for our families, businesses, etc.... It is imperitive that we do arise and fight the injustice. The best way to do so is by contacting your congressman. You can get there names by going to www.aaiusa.org and clicking on ACT NOW. Get a group of 5 or 6 prominant Arab Americans to ask for a meeting with your congressman and discuss the inhumane acts that are being commited everyday in Palestine. By law your congressmen must meet with you. Follow this meeting with multiple calls to their office. If you want to help. This is the best way to do so. Salam

I just came across a Powell's speech last November. The second half of the speech outlines what the US considers is the basis of a long lasting peace between the Palestinians and Israelis. http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2001/6219.htm He outlined everything that in my view is fair to both sides. Israeli security, 242, 348, innocent lives are shed from both sides, illegal building of settlements, Palestinian's 30+ years of frustration living under occupation and humiliation, etc. My question to Powell and the US administration, why the hell aren't you doing anything about this, only speeches and lip services. Things are not going to resolve themselves unless we do something to make things happen. It's about time that we show the world that we care about others, just like the whole world showed that they cared about us after the 911 aftermath.

I wonder if I should take the time to answer you as it seems you're not into the picture. I am also not sure if you understood my message at all.

I agree it is nice not to take life too seriously, but it is equally important not to be too superficial. We are able to get the joke and laugh at it when it is funny, but no, Ms./Mr. Anonymous, the cartoon is not funny or silly. It is so only for those who cannot -or do not want to- see beyond the funny-looking camels. The implications of the cartoon are far beyond that!

God bless!

HELLO EVERYONE! I THOUGHT THIS JOKE WAS CUTE... ENJOY :) If a fly falls in a cup of coffee : 1. American: Throws his cup away and walks out 2. Englishman: Takes the insect out and drinks the coffee 3. Chinese: Eats the insect and throws the coffee away 4. Japanese: Drinks the coffee with insect as it is coming free 5. Frenchman: Sells the coffee to the Englishman and insect to the Chinese and gets a new cup of coffee. 6. Israeli: Accuse the Palestinian for throwing insect into his coffee. Relates the issue to violence. Asks the American for Military aid. Takes loan from America to buy one more cup of coffee.

I think that cartoon with Yassir Arafat saying "Peace" on the 2-humped camels is actually funny. If you get the joke, you might find it amusing. If you can't laugh at yourself, sometimes then you are taking life too seriously. You should realize some things about this world, sooner or later, everyone will be made fun of for something. Yassir Arafat lately has been the target for ridicule, and sometimes I CAN SEE WHY! Laugh at it, it's funny. And no, Mr. Wakileh, there has been no "Israeli brutal attack" taking place in a silly comic poking fun at a political leader. We see things like that everyday in our local newspapers about President Bush. Shall we get on the wesbite and call those silly comics an Brutal Attack? Heavens No!

Hello everyone, Happy new year to all! My name is Bud Wichers, and I am a 24 year old reporter for a radio/ tv station in the Netherlands. I have covered stories such as: the nuclear transport in Germany, (1997), the revolution in Indonesia (1998), Euro 2000 in Belgium/ Holland (2000), the Presidential election in the United States, (2000), the War Crimes Tribunal, and NATO (1999/2000). And last year I covered the elections in Israel for a Dutch station. In about a month I will visit Ramallah, and I would like to make a short item for a news station in Holland. I would be more than interested in interviewing some of the people living there. I also would like to find a family there I can interview and follow for a day with my camera. In the last year my mind has been blown open with how much information is kept from the american PEOPLE by our gov't on how brutal and outrageous the Isreali's really are. The media softens their acts as self defense, and points fingers to the Palestinians as terrorists, for attempting independence not in ways much different from our own battle for independence 200 years ago. How can they be getting away with so much? "In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. " - Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable; that all men are created equal and independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent and inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, and liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. -Thomas Jefferson
