Hey everyone! We would like to let u guys know about what's
going on in Houston.We're a dabka troupe that's been organized
here in Houston for about a year and a half now.We felt that
since our families moved out of Palestine, we have lost touch
with parts of our heritage. God blessed our family with great
skills in the art of performing dabka so we decided not to put
our traditions to waste -- so re-uniting our Homeland's
traditions with the people who have been away from their homeland
for so long -- we are Zahrat Al Mada'en Folkloric Dance Troupe.
We've had many performances here in Houston and in Ramallah. The
Troupe members are: Salwa Abdallah, Ahmad Abdallah, Mohammad
Abdallah, Tarik Hassan, Salem Salem, Wissam Salem, Ra'ed Salem,
Akram Salem, Kareem Salem, Samer Salem, Jadala Hamad, Jamila
Hamad, Heba Ahmad, Aseel Saqer, and Suha Ahmad. You may have seen
some of us performing back home in Ramallah as the dance troupe
"Al-Asayel" or formerly here in Houston as
"Nashamit Palestine" . Check out the website..if you've
been to the Palestinian International Festival or any other
festival in Ramallah and Birzeit...then some of these pictures
may look familiar to you. We hope that you enjoy this website and
we definetly hope that everyone will appreciate our efforts in

Hey Everybody... I have a few suggestions to incorporate
the youth into our future conventions. The conventions can be fun
on the whole, but I find that the youth are not as involved in
significant causes as they could be. There should be seminars on
how we can all get politically active as an Arab organization.
The Ramallah Federation can be a very strong power to reckon
with. First, let's use AIPAC as a model and learn how to get
politically active in out own lobby. Our youth need to be
encouraged on how to run for government, fundraise for cadidates
that support our cause, and how to get grass roots support for
anything from U.N. resolutions that support us to Congress
members who recognize the need for a Palestinian state. Money
should be spent on professors and professionals who could hold
seminars that teach how to get involved in the political process.
Time should be balanced between fun and education, and who knows,
the education part could be just as fun!
