| Jul 2000 | Muslim Pakistani Engineer Visited by FBI at his WorkplaceBashir A. Syed |

Not before the ink had dried on the Report issued by the Commission on Terrorism, the FBI swooped at the work-place of a respectable Pakistani Chemical Engineer to interrogate him about his associations and contacts. They even told him that since he was a chemist, he must be knowing something about explosives. First the Nuclear Physics was declared a forbidden knowledge for Muslims by Reagan , and pretty soon they will ban Muslims from studying Chemistry and Biology for fear of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Are we living in America or in Nazi Germany? The man visited by FBI is a respectable citizen of this country and with impeccable character. This is the result of profiling since he wears a small beard and visits local Masjid on a regular basis. This has got to stop. Today it is this man, tomorrow it might be myself being a Physicist, and next time some pharmacist who knows how to mix concoctions to make drugs. Where is the Gestapo going to stop? |
